Well, not curious because of the cards but because that action in this hand. Let me explain...
This was a live poker hand. I was sitting at the BB in a full ring table. It was a $5/$10 table. I was dealt :qd4: :qs4:

UTG - Folds
UTG+1 - Folds
MP1 - Calls
MP2 - Folds
LJ - Folds
HJ - Calls
CO - Folds
BU (Villain) - Rise to $40
SB - FOLDS
ME - Call
Everyone else FOLD

FLOP

:as4: :qh4: :kd4:

ME - CHECK
BU - CHECK

TURN

:jd4:

ME - CHECK
BU - CHECK

RIVER

:9d4:

ME - $100 (assumed he has no 10's, no pocket K's, no pocket A's and no flush).
BU - Rises to $375 (he was all in)

Now... questions!

1) What would you do with this rise?
2) Do you guess my check after the flop was a bad choice?

1) I Called.
2) IMO the check after the flop was a really bad call.
Specially when the J came at the turn.

Now the question is what hand would you think this guy had?

I would have bet on the flop and turn, that's just me, I feel you gave him the chance to catch up so I might have folded at the river bet if I checked it all the way down.

1) I would call.
2) I think you shouldve bet on flop to see where he is at. You slow playing made your situation even harder but what if he had pockets 10s.

Agree with betting on the flop. I should have.

If he had pocket 10s he would have made a value bet (at least) after the turn when the straight came out.. That, or with pocket 10s he went fishing willing to catch me. However, I saw him as a tight player.

Finally I called and he had pocket 9s. (9s set including the river 9)
If he would bet $0,01 after the turn (A,Q,K,J) I would have fold.
As we both checked after the turn we both assumed (correctly) that no 10 was in our hands.

I guess he thought the max I could have was a double pair As and Js for example.
When the 9 came out I made a value bet guessing I had a better hand than his.
However, when hi rose, the 10 ghost appeared in my mind. It took about two minutes to discard that possibility.

My first impression is that I played a wrong hand in spite of winning.
However, then I realized that I wouldn't make $500 from him in one hand playing other way.

If you bet that flop (which I'm a fan of) he might go away? why stress yourself on further streets w/ that board?

I understand the check on the flop. you definitely shouldve bet the turn.

It depends on what id seen of that player. Personally. I'd be tempted to fold. As he must know I'm not betting with nothing on a board like that. It may well be a steal. But would take some balls considering the size of your bet.

Thats what I'm thinkin. But if I were live it would be hard to lay it down

He starts the hand with like 40bbs 3bet/get it in preflop. Flatting with QQ there is terrible. Bet flop. Bet turn. Fold to the river raise.

I think first you should never call right here, you should 3 bet. bet the flop and turn...i think this is easily the best play unless you can specifically but him on a better hand. This can be accomplished by 3 betting pre anyways

With 3 q's and that flop. I would have made at least. 1/2 pot bet if not more on the flop. The board is ripe for a straight, i would have gaged where I was right there. Had you been playing the table for awhile? Did the villain tend to chase or would he fold post flop to a decent bet?
