Agree with betting on the flop. I should have.
If he had pocket 10s he would have made a value bet (at least) after the turn when the straight came out.. That, or with pocket 10s he went fishing willing to catch me. However, I saw him as a tight player.
Finally I called and he had pocket 9s. (9s set including the river 9)
If he would bet $0,01 after the turn (A,Q,K,J) I would have fold.
As we both checked after the turn we both assumed (correctly) that no 10 was in our hands.
I guess he thought the max I could have was a double pair As and Js for example.
When the 9 came out I made a value bet guessing I had a better hand than his.
However, when hi rose, the 10 ghost appeared in my mind. It took about two minutes to discard that possibility.
My first impression is that I played a wrong hand in spite of winning.
However, then I realized that I wouldn't make $500 from him in one hand playing other way.
