I'd be interested to hear views on the impact that the worldwide credit crunch is having on Internet Poker. Are you playing more, the same or less? If you have to tighten your belt, will you play less?

I've been noticing the player count at stars lately, and it seems to be up about 20%, maybe a bit more. I tend to think that the teeming masses will be heading into games of chance as quick fix fantasies.

gambling doesn't seem to slow down for anything. As dj said, a 'quick fix' solution always appeals to many.

An economic slowdown may hurt the BnM sites and resort travel, but I think even that would be to a small percentage. Unless you play higher stakes, it's not poker that will feel the impact. It's the high ticket items like houses, cars, big ticket vacations, etc that will take the first hits.

I honestly believe more people are playing. And playing better due to the fact that they have to win.

During economically unstable times 2 things ALWAYS rise while everything else falls

#1 drinking
#2 gambling

My time has been increased by the slump. People just are not spending money and will not drive even for a bargain.

yeah...online does seem to be busier. I guess it makes sense when you factor in the cost of airfare and hotel, or even just gas if you live close enough to a casino to just drive in.
I would imagine that all manner of local business may be affected by the economic downturn. I find myself figuring out if it is cheaper to drive to pick up something or have shipped to me. If it is cheaper to ship it I will buy it online.
