went on PS today and noticed they have this new Omaha game, Courchevel. I can only do playmoney but checked it out. rules are the same as Omaha as far as playing 2 cards in hand and 3 on the table. difference is you get 5 cards in hand, and one card from the flop is dealt on the table before pre betting begins! that is my fav thing about this game, you can have a better idea of your hand strength or possible hand strength pre flop and adds so much more strategy to this game. i played around for a while and i really like it. hope this game catches on.

They also started dealing 5-card Omaha ("Big O"), the same 5-cards to a hand as Courchevel, but without the first flop card preflop rule. NL, FL, PL and hi/lo spread for all games.

Always good to see a poker room spread something new imo.

I love this. This is great. I'm always playing crazy games at my home game and I really like playing different variations to keep things interested.

I'm also ashamed to say that these strange games are my most lucrative at my home game. I wish everyone could adjust the odds as the games change, but its hard for people who cant even grasp the odds at NL HE.

It has always been dealers choice at the home game. I made up a game called 6 card Omaha. Dealt 6 cards but still Omaha rules, use only 2 cards.

Can't wait until pokerstars comes back to the states.

Where can I find a good strategy guide for this variant?

There is no way to play courchevel properly, it a luck game like Bingo.
People play it for fun not for making money.

For serious play, stay with NoLimits Holdem.

Guys dont waste your time on games not going anywhere. Learning Courchevel is like learning badugi. Your going no where.

I think that any game with community cards is going to have a better chance of becoming popular. people prefer to have an idea what hands possibly beat their hand, and what are the chances of someone having one of those hands, based on what community cards are on the table. unlike a game like badugi or 5 card poker where you are playing a lot more in the dark.

Yea that is true, it is why I love hold'em so much. You look at the community cards and go through different scenarios of what guys could be holding. When I play stud or razz it takes longer to work out what each person could be holding, which will then bore me lol.

I only play games like razz and stud when I play HORSE, which funnily enough I do find fun but I wouldn't want to play them too much :D

Never heard of Courchevel but sounds like playing draw poker with deuces, one eyed J's and suicide king as wild cards...did play an Omaha knock off that was exactly the same except that after the flop you had to discard 1 hole card as well as after the turn...that made for a very different game....

When I first heard about 5 card omaha I am sure they said that the new rule was you can not fold pre-flop.

I think I heard that while I was watching the EPTLondon on pokerstars.tv

I did like the sound of that but when I tried the game out I folded pre-flop, so either they changed their minds or I just dreamt it :D

I have spent the last couple of years converting from NL to Omaha and the last thing I want now if to learn a new version of it, and from what I've read about it I honestly cant see the point, better of playing proper Omaha and taking money off fish like me :D
