This poker player I talk to from 2+2 who is very good was talking about how one day poker could "dry up".. I don't think it ever can, but he was saying with all the training sites and people getting way better it could..?

Thoughts on the subject??

No because there are always going to be those fish that think that they don't need all the books, videos and blogs from the world's best poker. The game might tighten up in terms of fish, but I don't think it will ever turn into sharks only.

Also, knowledge of the game is only half the battle.

A fish with no knowledge loses once.

A fish with knowledge but not the emotional ability to apply it consistently comes back repeatedly.

Simple solution: If poker ever "dries up", just use lube.

Maybe if online poker is proved to be rigged at all sites or something like that to make ppl stop playing or else i dont think it will :) (?)
Right now its just increasing all the time right? I think the next generation coming up there will be alot of more poker players/fishes just because of TV shows etc showing tha good life/side etc ^^..

Cardschat has 67000 members who care enough about this game to follow an internet forum about it where you can read a ton of strategic information, hand analysis, ...

At least 99% of those members are fishes anyway.

I'm not worried.

I think it's certainly possible it could dry up. However I don't think we'll see that point for a long time, if ever, as people love a "get rich quick" scheme.

I doubt poker will ever dry up. If something changes it will probably be holdem becoming less popular and something like Omaha being more popular.

Depends on what u mean by drying up.
The tables have fewer, and better equiped fish than before.

The game will always evolve. Just look at how game play was back when Doyle started and how it is now. People will always be greedy therefor pumping money in the game. I don't think poker will ever "dry up". Maybe NLHE if another game type takes its place.

Yeah, I agree. Everything goes in cycles, but to have only sharks roaming the tables will never happen. There will always be people wanting to learn, learning, and hustling :). Poker has been around for hundreds of years and will continue on... until 2012, of course... just kidding, but seriously...

People get bored and will move off to the next big thing.

Will poker die? No just be aware that one day it just won't be as popular as it is now.

Will shark be able to continue making money? Sure - but the fish pool will be smaller and there will be more competition.
