I was thinking about registering for the SUPER TURBO Satellite to Full Tilt's Big Little Tournament.

Players start with 300 chips.
It's a Turbo so blinds increase every 5 minutes.
10 Guarantee seats to the BLT and about 33% get in if prize pool minimum is met.

I wanted to see how big the field was to finalize on my decision. So I waited to the last minute and about 40 players registered.

So I decided not to register. As I was about the quit out of the window, the Late Registration button came up. I was like WTF?! That's not fair. Wouldn't that give an advantage to players that register late? The field would be cut down and everyone "in the money" gets the same. I don't play much satellites but is it just me, or am I missing something? I feel that this is absolutely ridiculous.

UPDATE: Late Registration closed when level 3 hit. So that means it lasted 10 minutes. I looked at the stats and there were about 130 players left with a 55 seat guarantee.

If you start with 300 chips and the blinds start at 25/50 for you, you basically have 1 orbit to ship before you lose fold equity. I don't know what the entrants:1st place ratio is but I think this only hurts you if anything.

On another note, if you think there is a loophole in a system, just take advantage of it (i.e. register right before late registration closes).

I did some math, but you'll still have an advantage even with the blinds at where they're at.

You want to share the math? With ICM involved, the calculations aren't easy which is why I didn't bother.

Late reg only lasts 10 mins. The runtime on these is almost an hour. I think to register late and do well you'd have to get extremely lucky as you're basically backed up against a wall.

yea i think if u late registry you have to wait for the hand to get around to you before u blind in then if your computer messes up and u disconnect their will probley only be like 60 people left then if u can wait max time on all hands u can probley make the money without playing a hand 50% of the time

nah play tightens up considerably nearing the bubble.

Those are pointless tourneys to enter. Just gimmick luckfests. I stay far away from those tourneys.

I have got into some of them with late registering, and it came in handy you get to play against player that unstand the game over a donk that goes all in all the time

I would agree that having late registration can give an advantage to people signing up late. I noticed that bodog has started doing this late registration and that really bugs me. They have a 30 minute late registration, which I find ridiculous.

if you have frequent player points and want to boost your bank roll doing these on poker stars like the 250fp ones etc can give you near 1.6c a point. which unless your supernova and regularly taking the $4000 bonus your not going to see often, thus this can give you competitive rake back. And with some common sense you can probably get above 1.6c a point with slight advantage. otherwise avoid these. I prefer to save my points for the big bonus though. but most players don't make 3500vps a week.

I gave this a miss because with 300 chips and turbo format it is more like bingo rather than poker. Get a couple of good hands and double up and yu are fine but there is not much scope to play real poker in these games.

Thought I would give this tourney a try after reading your post. Registered late near end of second level. Several hands in i went all in with ak, 4 were all in. a7 and two pp. Hit my ace on river. Pretty much never played a hand from then on. Even folded ks in small blind when chip leader was in BB. Only 4 from bubble no point of getting more chips or risking loseing them.

So although it is a bingo get lucky tourney. I only played once and now i can be one of 50k in the tourney. Guess i can't complain.

Thanks for the post probably wouldnt have played with out reading this.

Great job. Good play with the Kings. I guess it's best to take WurlyQ's advice and take advantage of the structure. Good luck in the BLT! ;)

Good luck with that. Wait 5 minutes and fold out!
