Does this really make a difference? Could a person maybe play a little better after longer periods of time with a lap top laying in bed or on the couch? Or is it better to be sitting upright in your chair at the desktop? I'm asking because I'm planning on buying a lap top and doing most of my poker play on it. I also get uncomfortable after a couple hours of sitting at the desk top, and was wondering if it could be affecting my play. Opinions please!

I find that playing while emersed in the blood of a baby lamb boosts the ol' luck factor, but the keyboard is always sticky...

Playing on a laptop it is much easier to become distracted by doing other things. If you are uncomfortable at you PC maybe you should use some of your earnings to buy a more comfortable chair ;)

And, it's a brand new pic, not the old one again.

I can see this thread open on the left monitor. :)

Plus, I see what looks like the Logitech Revolution wireless mouse. I bought one for my wife and she loves the feel. Have to get one for myself.

O yes, new pic, I have standards.

Also note artfully arranged book to make it look like I read stuff.

Still, nobody has really answered my question lol, does being comfortable hurt your play or help it? Or does it make a difference at all?

I can't imagine being comfy hurting your play.

I think being comfortable definitely helps it, but you do need to be able to focus as well. I have a laptop but I almost always use it at a desk in a chair. I usually 12-table so the external mouse is kind of important and I haven't found a comfortable and efficient way to lay down and still be able to use the mouse and see the screen comfortably.

I think laptops aren't that good for playing at home since you can get a nice setup with a good chair and a good monitor(s). I recommend getting atleast a 22 inch screen since you can fit everything nicely onto it.

I mainly use my laptop to play when I visit my parents or otherwise travel. I find it very hard to get good sitting positions in places that are not made for computer use and its actually pretty tiring playing on a sofa or bed in the long run.

And yes being confortable seems to give me better results.

I think comfort is very important, but being too relaxed can lower your attention to the task at hand.

Off-topic, I switched to a trackball-style mouse a few years ago and can't go back. You don't need any flat surface for use, so it's great for recliners or wherever.

Certainly is. About half way through. Similar to Look to Windward and not a patch on the greatness of Player of Games and Use of Weapons.

Enjoying it though and of course the best bit is often the finale in his books.

Im only just on player of games, had a whole load of books to get through and a friend willing to lend me all his novels, so ill get through them. Been on an alister reynalds(sic im tired ) fest so took me a while in between poker to start the culture novels.

Great read so far isnt it good when you find a series of books late on enjoy them and know you got a load to come :)

rex are you left handed? I dont see how your set up works if not, or do you use the sofa as a mat for the mouse.

Myself, i use my desktop to play on, and have a fit ball to sit on, since it keeps your posture upright and works on your core.
