And why would someone teach you to play well? Make yourself a competitor?

I am looking for online knowledge but the choice of a coach is to see if he has a success story in poker

A good coach does not necessarily have to be a good player himself. That is a story told by the elite poker pros who started poker schools themselves, but it is not true. A great poker player can very well be a horrible teacher, and vice versa. So, if you are looking for a coach, find out how successful his previous students are, not himself.

You should be able to find dozens of books about poker . Some will deal with theory and math , others psychology or style , etc . Keep reading and improve that way !

I remember one commentator said that most coaches play worse than players. And they need coaches mostly for calm. Still don't understand it.
Just play many many hands and you will learn all yourself.

My first thought is, what do you consider Cardschat to be. You have many coaches right here that will help you anyway they can. You just ask the questions, and you will get honest and usable advice that you can take to the tables and see that it does work. This is a fact. Someone said that good players would not help with good advice because they don't want more competitors. Well that's not true. Good players here welcome new competitors, and will give you the advice you need to become better at the game. But only you can take it to the tables and use it. So if you pay a coach for what you can get free here, that just don't make sense. For the past 5+ years CC is the only place I have learned the game of poker. It's been slow, but it has to be because there is no way to take in all the information you need to be the player you want to be. GL to you all

Lessons with a coach - it is not cheap!:( First of all, you need to clarify for themselves - which financial result can the coach bring to you?
I think, that to hire a coach - is an effective way to improve your game. The coach can identify weaknesses and provide accurate and professional advice, that will be useful at the poker tables.

I think a coach for NL Holdem poker is a crazy reality, unless you virtually know nothing about the game, and are rich enough to hire one. I think a better solution is to learn from all the strategy articles on cardschat, as well of all the books on the game. Learning from experience has been beneficial to me along with cardschat advice and books.

Don`t waste your $$$,,,think of your favorite player and do what he does. Test your game in freerolls first,,,then take a shot at real money games. Have confidence in yourself,be aggressive,,,and have fun along the way:D

I think everyone needs to develop a style that is suitable for their personal play style, what works for others might not work for you if you don't apply it correctly. I would think we are all mostly self coached in poker, adjusting to correct mistakes or leaks we made in the past is basically coaching Our self... for the most part a coach is not needed unless you final table the wsop ME, in which case even the pros will hire a coach.

There is so much free stuff out there nowadays that I think coaching has become unecessary.

Everyone has his own way to victory, and everything depends on the desire to work, over his mistakes !!! But if you do not understand where you make a mistake, I think that the coach will not hurt you!

If you have the opportunity learn from the coach more information then you should use. it
After all, it can help you save money. If he is a good coach then you can get an interesting experience that you will use during the game,
But if you are learning themselves. it takes a long time in order to recognize own mistakes and correct them.
This will keep your bankroll in the future.:D:D
