Smoking at the poker table

one of the things that bother me a lot is tolerating someone else on the table smoking cigarettes and give myself the free will to enjoy second-hand smoking right along with him/her throughout the entire gameplay. it bothers me a lot, not only during the game even after the game it makes all my nasals and mouth and my lungs dry. some players don't understand the number of cigarettes is consuming during the game just because they feel like losing the game.

first of all, for those players I should say that cigarette makes your brain weaker and doesn't let your brain to make a proper decision it makes your heart pump fast and your blood pressure high and your lungs dry so it lessens your brain function and in lung run those players may experience loses
do not smoke not only on the poker table but everywhere, take good care of your health

I also quit smoking and smoking greatly affects the quality of the game, it's true. Another big danger is that a player who plays poker and smokes will smoke too much, and this is very detrimental to health!

in general, when you smoke live during a game, it means that you are among friends and that the majority of other players also smoke. for my part when I play online. I only smoke during the break because it allows me to relax before resuming my game. smoking is bad for your health but it is very difficult to be able to do without it, especially when you have been smoking since the age of 15. I have tried several times to quit smoking but never succeeded in reaching this goal.

I don't think it's how you say If it is a bad habit and in that I agree I do not consider myself an addictive smoker. I smoke only 2 cigarettes a day and now in quarantine it always touches me when I am playing poker after a tild or a bad beat I find it relaxing and the truth is that it does not affect me too much personally since I play sports and always keep the head busy with other things. but well, each body is different

I agree with the author that smoking negatively takes over your mind, all thoughts are only about how uncomfortable you are. An exception can only be if you are among close friends and the game is secondary

I agree with you about smoking 100. I myself do not smoke and do not like when to smoke close to me. It is very good that we did a separate place for smokers.

I was a smoker for many years and now cannot tolerate the smell.
I wouldn’t play anywhere that allowed smoking anywhere but outside the building.
Even then when the addicts run out for a smoke during break when they return the smell reeks on their clothes. So disgusting...Now slipping out for a quick toke is more my speed lol

My input on this is: I use to smoke mainly playing poker live for two reasons (never on the tables only outside where allowed) for relax and regroup. and to annoy other players that didn't like the smell or where bothered by it to distract them.

Also you cannot control people and if you are a poker player you will run into people that will try anything to distract you or try to get under your skin so you can let your emotions control you. Like people running the timer, going all in all the time, table trash talk, etc. So part of being a good poker player is you must not let this little things bother you, you must ignore them and not let them distract your game. If I didn't like the smell I would go to another place where they don't allow smoking on tables. If I don't like table because someone going all in then i'll wait for good hands to take their chips, if someone table trash talks, ill take their chips and tell him to call his buddies over so they can give me their money. So people will try to trow you off your game. Also don't let them know your weaknesses.

I believe that the problem is not the other player smoking, but the location allowing him to smoke at the table ... In brazil it is forbidden to smoke in places of public access (with the exception of outside areas)

It seems that someone who smokes at a poker table knows that he is doing it to harm others more than himself, cigarette smoke is annoying, it hurts more to the person who smokes secondhand smoke and apart from all this those who do not smoke suffer more. If it were a gentleman or a lady they would not do it since they know that to people who do not smoke, cigarette smoke is often even offensive.

I`m a smoker but inside of some place is bad.I even don`t smoke inside of my house!

Here in the U.K. Smoking in any Pubs, Clubs and casinos is strictly banned, the only place I come across Poker players smoking at the table is at home games, I don't really have a problem with it as I used to smoke 40 a day until I suffered a heart attack, Now I use the Vape electronic cigarettes, and find I couldn't smoke a real cigarette if I wanted to.
It has been 8 years since my last real cigarette and I hate the smell of them, but I don't preach to the habitual smoker, I know what it is like, to smoke so I accept that it is a horrible habit which is very hard to give up. and some people struggle with it.
Even my Doctor approves of me using the Vape as there are less harmful chemicals in them and if he had his way everyone would be better off Vaping rather than smoking.
