Their software is programmed to detect chip dumping so I wouldn't do it, you both take the risk of being banned from the sites. Don't assume that because there are so many tables that no one is looking, the computer sees everything.

If you choose to do so, be prepared to pay a heavy rake. As for as getting caught by the computer, you can avoid that by only betting on hands where you both have a good hand. Like I said though.....the rake will be high.

As others have said, you run the risk of having both your bankrolls confiscated.

Seems like a very risky thing to do. Sometimes people get caught and sometimes they don.t So if u care a bout ever withdrawing,I wouldnt even chance it .I have heard about people playing HU sitngo to do this before, and they just played out the whole game. Was not a cash game table. I wouldnt risk doing it though. Would be so nice if carbon would just bring back P2P already.

my question for people is, if player A wants to dump his own money into player B account, why does the poker site care? If it's a heads up cash game or sng, pokersite makes their rake so what's the problem? I could understand in a ring game, or non hu sng but it doesn't seem like a big deal to me if 2 consenting players agree.
While, I would never do this as I don't have any that i would trust to fold, I don't really think it's a big deal

First thing is if you are planning to do this, DON'T put on a message board you are planning to do this.

I think it because some people do this to launder money gained by illegal means.

Chip dumping the correct way does not pay rake is 1 of the problems. Player A bets 90% of player B's stack preflop and when player B pushes all in, player A folds. It is illegal on all sites and if caught, you risk not being able to play on any online poker site as they share the data/info on players that do that!

I am sure there is a good way to do it to avoid detection but I would never take the chance that even 1 year later, when you have built up $20K and start withdrawing, that they pull up your initial chip-dump, ban you forever, and take every penny of your money... :musicus:

its completely against the rules of online poker, if your caught you risk having both accounts suspended and your money confiscated. if u read the site terms and conditions ull clearly see it there.

What part of "cheating" do you not understand? And it is cheating, period. End of story. The reason the site cares should be obvious, lol. And it is a big deal. You know why it's a big deal? Rules are rules. If you make exceptions it defeats the rule and renders it useless. Every malicious cheater could simply claim they were helping out a friend. How could you prove they are or are not cheating? You cannot. Thus, the rule; no chip dumping!

You know, at most live cash games you cannot give a player at the table chips from your stack? Away from the table you can, but not at the table. As this is a rule, you cannot make exceptions. Watch the movie Rounders. That should make it crystal clear.

OP, realize if you and your friend do this, good intentions or not, you are cheating and will become known cheaters. No way around it. Either do a player-to-player transfer or accept you are willing to cheat and accept the consequences once you do. If you get caught do not whine how unfair it is that all your money and the other guys got taken by the site.

Stealing a candy bar when you are starving does not change the fact you are a thief. People can understand it, certainly, but it will not change that fact.

We are not talking about live cash games. We are talking about online games obviously. If in a live cash game, I could simply get up from the table, walk over to my friend and hand him $5,000 or whatever I wanted and walk back and sit down.
As far as money laundering, I can think of at least a half dozen easier ways to launder money than go through an online pokersite. While poker sites should be looking for money launderes, isn't that the reason they closed down the poker sites in the usa? Supposed money laundering? This is completely laughable.
As far is it is considered cheating, I still do not understand why player C who is not at the table gives 2 cents about what player A and player B does. Player A wants his money in Player B account, good for both of them.
To equate this of stealing a candy bar being wrong is outright absurd. #1 If i am hungry enough to steal, you can believe I'm not looking at a snickers bar. #2 What does it say about our society in which we would jail hungry people for taking a candy while we allow the millionaires and billionaires to rob us completely blind.
#3 Calling it illegal doesn't make sense. 2 players agreed to a deal at a table or before hand. Player A going all in leaving behind 1 chip and folding is fine by me. The site got their rake of the 1 hand instead of 100. So what, they still got their cut. I'm only talking about HU sngs or HU cash games where no other players are involved. In a ring game with more than 2 players, i can obviously see this as collusion. Get the money to the other side of the table where player B has better position. That's not what we are talking about. Player A wants his money in player account. Fastest way to do that seems to be to set up a table and give your chips away. Why do you really care?

I'm not saying I would do it? As i stated previously, there's a lot of people I like but I don't trust them. I'm not going to stick $90 in holding they will fold after calling. Sure, there's other ways to get it done but 0 ways are as fast. I personally don't understand why player C who is not in the game gives 2 cents what player A and player B do while they are in the game.

If they are doing that, why not press charges against them? Isn't robbing someone illegal?

Easier ways to launder money , probably so.

As to why the sites care , I would think they have a big enough target on their backs already and adding facilitating money laundering is not a burden they want even a small part of.

We are not talking about live cash games. We are talking about online games obviously. If in a live cash game, I could simply get up from the table, walk over to my friend and hand him $5,000 or whatever I wanted and walk back and sit down.

Well, fine, do the equivalent thing online then; P2P transfer, or have him send you a check.

As far as money laundering, I can think of at least a half dozen easier ways to launder money than go through an online pokersite. While poker sites should be looking for money launderes, isn't that the reason they closed down the poker sites in the usa? Supposed money laundering? This is completely laughable.

Well, you know what? Your (no offense) naive opinion is as well. So, I'll tell you what is easy; sitting halfway across the world wondering how you can send your terrorist buddy just a few grand to use in an attack by using a poker site to do it via chip dumping and having him cash it out. I doubt that money will hit on any radar, now will it? And since they cannot use western union, if they ever do fund an attack in this this way OLP will have one helluva black eye. Then where will we be? So why risk your companies future? And before you laugh at this, keep in mind what they have already done before to get money transferred. As we shut each one down, they become more desperate to find new ways. So laundering money or not, it does not really matter, does it?

As far is it is considered cheating, I still do not understand why player C who is not at the table gives 2 cents about what player A and player B does. Player A wants his money in Player B account, good for both of them.

The reason you don't understand is that you want to have your cake and eat it to; how in the world could they prevent some from abusing it and allow some, who simply want to do a "little friendly transfer" separate? They cannot, now can they? They could not pick out the illegal chip dumps from the legal, could they? What do you want them to do, send out a letter?

"From site administration; we noticed you were chip dumping in yesterday's game. Please inform us if this was just a friendly transfer or an illicit act. Thanks for your help, and good luck at the tables."

See what I mean? And what could you do? Send them a notification that you are going to place yourself above the rules of the site and other members because, what? Your special? Now do you get it?

To equate this of stealing a candy bar being wrong is outright absurd. #1 If i am hungry enough to steal, you can believe I'm not looking at a snickers bar. #2 What does it say about our society in which we would jail hungry people for taking a candy while we allow the millionaires and billionaires to rob us completely blind.

It's not absurd at all. Stealing is stealing, period. Why you did it does not change that. So, same thing with chip dumping. It's against the rules, so it does not matter why you do it. It's still not allowed. Period. Is the guy stealing really just hungry? How could you prove it? Maybe he is lazy. Would not a real thief with malicious intent simply claim he was just hungry and trying to eat just to avoid prosecution? So then, maybe millionaires and billionaires are not the only ones "robbing us blind", huh? I guess not. And as for those million/billionaires "robbing us blind", you got proof? They hold a gun to someone and rob them? Or do they just have rules and/or charges for services and things you also do not like or agree with? In order to rob or steal, don't you have to be breaking the law? Or is breaking someones opinion robbing?

You can rationalize it all you want. All day and night long you can rationalize it all over the place. Still, it does not change the fact; it is a rule. You cannot just pick and choose which ones you want to follow. So if you break it, you're in the "illegal" zone of behavior. Period. So calling it "illegal" makes perfect sense, because that's what it is!

So, why can't your friend give you money in person or send it to you for you to deposit?

Why can't you deposit the money yourself after he sends/gives it to you?

Why can't he deposit money on a site with P2P transfers so he can give you money?

Why can't you do it like the rest of us and build your own bankroll from scratch?

Why should the site be blamed for what is yours and his problems?

Why should you be allowed to break rules the rest of us have to follow?

Do NOT do it. Your friend most likely has hacked the account or used a stolen credit card to fund his account, and is trying to launder the money through you. It is absolutely illegal.
