Chip/Card snobs?

I admit, when it comes to live games, I'm spoiled. I can't stand playing with paper cards (e.g. Bicycle, Aviator, Bee) or cheap chips like you can pick up at WalMart or whatever. Give me Copags, Kems, Dal Negros, etc. and at least some Nexgens for chips. Ceramic chips are nice too, but nothing beats a Paulson IMO. Too bad Paulson's are so pricey.

So far these are the best I can afford...



....but I really do like them. Around 2500 chips in my set.

Anyone else here have a card/chip addiction?

I only play on high grade felt.

I've tried numerous cards (Copags are my current favorite) and I actually had a set of custom chips (ceramic) made.




I've since had the $20 chip remade because the contrast in the 1st one (pictured) wasn't acceptable.

All those cards are plastic coated and made by the same company. The United States Playing Card Company I love Bicycles. Other than the cheap dollar store variety, what else is there? Titatium coated?

These are my chips. Never had pro quality chips before. When it arrived, I could not believe how heavy they were. Weighs about 15 lbs without the packaging. Not sure what the composite is, probably not clay. But they feel & sound real nice. Classy but nothing fancy, just the FT insignia inlay. If anywants want closeups, I'll do a webcam shot. Holy cow, I got the deluxe set (500 vs. 300 chips). What do you do with 2500!?!? Are you the neighborhood casino? Very nice BTW, love that orange!

Yep, but plastic coated paper is still paper. There is no comparison between them and Copags, etc.

BTW, discovered very recently that the USPCC is in the database of companies which I call from daily.

Regarding the chips, I originally bought a set of 2000 for running a league. As the league has evolved (changes to blind structures/membership/etc.) I discovered the need for more higher denom chips. The 650 red '$5' chips haven't seen any play in a long time due to blind structure changes.

And that chip that looks orange is actually yellow. They didn't make an orange chip in this model for some reason. A little disappointing because I'd have loved to have some $5K chips to add to the set.

I use Casino brand which are very heavy clay composite (13 gms), and play with them when Im online sometimes, helps me think...
They guy who delivered the set of 1,000 chips almost had a hernia...

These Nexgens are around 12g each I think...fairly heavy too.

I had always thought real casinos used the heaviest chips, but was quite suprised to learn that most casino chips (Paulsons in many casinos) are only 9.5g.

Actually when it comes to chip weight, heavier does not equal better. The only reason you ever see chip weight listed as a selling point is because the producers of cheap, plastic, slugged chips decided to promote their chips that way. As rotocub said most real casino chips are between 9 and 10g both clay and ceramic (and the occasional Bud Jones plastic casino chip).

I like WPT chips and cards. Just when you play with your friends you get nice feeling.

This is often true, however this brand is definitely clay (composite, some plastic for sure), you can feel it. Im sure theyre slugged too tho..
I like the heavy weight, and the chalky feel, but next set will prob be Paulson at 9g or so...
