I've been playing a lot more ring tables than usual between trying to clear the Academy challenges and get the bonus money. (Can't say I'm ahead... but am playing.) So I thought I'd check myself out on PTR, which is not a place I would normally go.

Holy crap! They have a ton of info. I particularly was interested in the grade cards (last tab) at different games and levels. Those showed a lot of leaks in my game that I can maybe work on... and they were not the leaks I expected to have. For instance, I consider myself slightly aggressive at NL, but certainly not overly so. I mean, I rarely shove, and my preflop bets tend to be in the 3-5BB range. Or so I thought. But that is not what the score cards showed. They also showed that, in some games I was tight as a mouse, and in others very LAGgy. Very interesting. And possibly very helpful if I am ever to improve.

These things will give me a lot of stuff to try out, to work on and to adjust.

Have you checked yourself out over there? What was your biggest surprise?

See personally I never liked any of these things.
Everytime I checked them out just didnt seem right to me.
Pokeredge,Pokerratings, sharkscope, and all that stuff I personally stay away from.
Not worth much to me imo.

There is certain software you can use to discover your leaks. Dont wanna advertise it here, tho its well known to poker players.

It is nice to know though left52 if you know that the people you are playing are looking that stuff up though, then you can flip flop and play how they think you play and completely turn them upside down. There have been a couple times where I have been playing and someone will say something along the lines of: "I checked SharkScope on everyone here and you're all fish..." blah blah blah, and you can go check yourself out and play the complete opposite. Now this obviously doesn't work that much and most people aren't stupid enough to say something like that, even if they did check one of the stat sites, but it can help.

Also, GrindIt, I am assuming you are talking about Holdem Manager and/or PokerTracker3, which there are literally thousands of posts that mention the two products on CardsChat, so you are ok to talk about them, they are an essential tool to any online poker player.

Sigh. I got Holdem Manager, but cannot get it to work. There is a long long page I printed out that, when I get around to going through every step, which should take me some hours, maybe it will work. I'm a bit put off but all the steps, being used to user-friendly programs that... just...work. If all this stuff that I found at PTR, all the analyses, are in there when my HHs are loaded, well, goody. In the meantime, PTR has a lot of info, publicly available info, about me, which my opponents can check, if they want, and which I am dang sure I want to be on top of, too.

And, yeah, I check OPR and sharkscope and whatever, also. Why not?

PTR is a bit too short term contingent for my liking: your rating can fluctuate a great deal based on your last few sessions. Why have a "Hot or Not" stat if the main number is going to reflect that anyway?
That being said, it will show you who is down thousands of dollars...

There is another problem with these sites tho. They do not always track a player from the beginning of his career. And even more so if they do, how much is this info really worth? A player could start at stars sucking really hard and lose thousands then start on FTP and own there but still be thousands behind...

if they had a filter so you could check your or others recent stats it would be better

Exactly what I think, like on Holdem manager where you can choose to filter your stats for certain periods of time or by whatever you want.

My stats happen to be really good on there (all A+ to B+), even though they haven't translated that well to winnings

I like PTR i used to have a really loose rating, so I tightened up, now I have too tight of a rating. Lol I am winning more because of it, so I like it.

I've never checked this site out before. Very interesting. My rating appears to be very low, despite being up $2000 in 7000 hands. I got an F in preflop Tightness. It says I'm 100% too loose. But I get all A's and B's in agression.
