cheating with open proxy?

I just read a story about a good MTT player who had more than one account and was using an open proxy to do this (although it was assumed he had because of some chat he did in the past). He has an advantage when he is on one table.

Now here is my question if someone does this i guess no one can see that you are using more than one account because your ip is different???

How in the world are pokersites going to do something about this kind of cheating?

dont wanne name names cause they still investigating but you can read about it at the well known poker sites which i prob cant mension here because of "advertising/spam" reasons.

Cheating and poker are like conjoined twins. It doesn't matter if it's online or not.

Even if there aren't measures poker sites can do to track and evaluate cheaters through open proxy, the greed will most probably catch up with the player/individual in the short-term and it'll be the end of that person. How successful does this one person/group of players become until someone says something? It doesn't sound like a sure-fire money maker to begin with. This guy still has to beat a ton of other players if it is an mtt. Sngs might be easier, but then he'd be caught ten-fold faster imo.

in an MTT he doesn't have a huge advantage, but in sngs he might do better. but it will come to light eventually when 2 players keep showing up at the same time, playing time and time in same sngs and he will most definitely not play too many pots with both accounts. and he will have to chip dump too.

I really love to think everything is legitimate with online poker, but with questions about RNG's at every site, people using bots at multi tables and groups colluding all over the place, it really makes it hard to not feel sometimes something isnt right, but even when I hear so called legitiamte stuff it makes me scratch my head

IS THIS LEGAL - If youre gonna be a money making like the "pros" playing turbo sng 25-60 at a time use Table ninja to load your games and make your betting decisions for you and all you do is hit bet or fold, and then along with that program using hold em manager to determine the frequency of what a player does to decide if youre gonna bet or not. Ive heard different sides but it makes me wonder so Im playing a turbo SNG with some dude playing 35-60 tables at a time to increase ROI that has an automated program to tell them everything about the player, BUt I got people up in arms when I said Heck if youre gonna use all that GO ahead and just use a bot, it seems the only difference is that the bot will hit the bet or fold button for you

Ok i might be the dumbest fk on this forum regarding online poker. But i'll ask anyway. Fk an open proxy. Thats misdemeanor stuff.

Do ppl actually believe its impossible to invest in online cheating? I mean, u dont think we could go find a beasty hacker/programmer, see whole cards and split the profit w him? Not be retarded like the previous ppl and winning 95% of the pots but actually loose hands on purpose yet keep urself in a reasonable profit zone?

Call me crazy but theres ppl out there right now grinding on PS or FT seeing whole cards. Obviously not an overwhelming majority, but there has to be some. I'd bet my life on it in a heart beat.

I've considered this, but... :\ I dunno, lol... I'd say, there might be a FEW. Like, literally between 1 and 10 people doing it successfully. And if there are, the only way they're doing it successfully is by not being totally blatant and losing when they know they should. I dunno, I don't see it being too much of a problem really. Blatant guys probably get caught. I've been e-mailed by Full Tilt and recompensed once for a tournament I played in with a cheat. Gave me my buy-in back, lol. Dunno if it was just two guys colluding or if it was a full blown superuser hacker or what...

A proxy is way to route your internet traffic. That usually includes all traffic, email, web browsing, online poker, online games and so on. They actually go back decades probably. Back in the day, smaller businesses, schools and such would use one to cache traffic and then if another person called up the same website, it wouldn't have to go out to the internet, just to the proxy. Ton quicker and saved bandwidth back when it was very expensive to get any real speed.

An open proxy is an extension of that. Basically it's a public proxy that disguises your original IP by rerouting all of your traffic. And you can configure a computer to route to the proxy first and then the proxy sends it the final destination.

Now in this case, what's being suggested is that he had one computer configured normally and the other using the proxy. What the poker site sees is 2 different originating IP address which disguises the whats actually happening.

Of course though, they have full records of every hand, every game and can run queries on their databases and still find out what's really going on. And I'm sure that it's configured that if certain scenarios play out, it trips a red flag.

*sigh* Not possible with either PS or FT. Nobody is doing this. The only people who can see everybody's hole cards is the site themselves.

Open poxy?

Sorry, can someone please explain what a open poxy is and how it is cheating. Sorry everyone I'm still pretty new at online poker. Only been playing it within a year.

For an already good player, I reckon having 6 accounts in a tourney is a huge advantage

Sigh, before you post on a forum bitching about software. At least take the time to educate yourself how the software works before you start bitching about it and making yourself look like an idiot. That's not how Table Ninja works and not really how HEM works.

I used to use proxy server for HU, but ended up beating myself up. Don't do it!!!
