I would be concerned placing any real, important money on the table due to the likelihood of cheaters trying to scam you. Collusion has to be a huge problem with so many opportunities to cheaters provided by technology. There must even be complicit cheating going on live where the regulars look to fleece newcomers.

Please give some examples of suspected or proven cheating you have seen.

Maybe you've been watching just a bit too much of Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels :D

:) Not sure what that is, but, no, I've been watching too much bot play on ACR. It just got me thinking about how people always try to cheat and what you can do to protect yourself.

And I swear I saw a dealer on High Stakes Poker pull a card out of her sleeve.

It's a movie and you should watch it if you haven't seen it yet. Was just kidding.

Heres how I look at internet poker . Anytime you are dealing with money on the internet, especially when you have to transfer those funds, overseas to another country , and it involves gambling, you are at risk to be cheated, have your funds locked up , or stolen . For anyone that doesnt believe this , just take a look at past scenarios, like LOCK POKER , or even recent scenarios like FULL FLUSH poker, which seems to have become the most recent scam poker site, that is screwing players out of alot of money.

Its true of any cash in advance situation. You have to make sure contractors are legit and that a business wont go out of business before shipping your order.

With internet poker, the risks seem bigger because the timeframe is very long.

Yes, but if you're at pokerstars, chances of that happening are almost non-existent.

They may be more stable then other online overseas poker sites, but in the end they have YOUR money and CONTROL of your money. In other words, if you want to cash out, you must get their approval first, and then they must follow thru with it. Just because a poker site has done a good job with such transactions in the past, is not a guarantee they will always do it in the future. A example of this would be FULL FLUSH POKER , which had a good track record in early 2015 and prior to that. Nowadays, that poker site has become a huge scam, with many players not getting their cashout requests for the last 6-12 months .

If you play anywhere except PokerStars of 888 you are taking a huge gamble and it is not recommended. I play BCP due to location, but have never made a deposit just played with freeroll and promotion money. Bovada is pretty solid mostly, but I hate the format.

For bigger money and higher levels I play live only until PS comes to Michigan

in the last couple of years sites have become better regulated.
Players with bots are becoming a target for sites but there is a long way to go to check them out, and smaller value ones may still be getting away with it for years.
Live - most games are honest, casinos having security systems to check and unusual occurrences, but in the end human nature will still make some people take the risk and your own obserbations will help identify them

as long as there is internet gambling, without COMPLETE and proper checks, balances and regulations, there will continue to be corruption and scams in the biz.

and even if all internet poker sites had proper regulations, you still have a chance of corruptions and unsavory business practice because of 1 primary thing in human existence .

WHEN YOU MIX HUMANS AND MONEY TOGETHER, YOU ALWAYS END UP WITH GREED, CORRUPTIONS AND PEOPLE WANTING TO FIGURE OUT WAYS TO CHEAT A SYSTEM TO GET MORE MONEY OUT OF IT.

This is human nature...and we see it in politics, religions, sports betting, poker, etc...etc..
