I know no one knows me and I have been on sparingly since joining, I apologize for the latter. I turned 32 today and last week I had to say goodbye to my best friend. He was a 30 year old man just turning his life around and starting to live it right.

We attended the Mets game last Monday night together. Tuesday he went to the game with a friend and never made it home. He was bi-polar and had ADD. He had been on medication to help with the bi-polar disorder and it worked miracles for him. He had recently been switched to a new medication and Tuesday night this medication was the reason he had a seizure and passed away Wednesday morning in the hospital.

He was a math teacher in New York. He saved his brothers life years ago with a bone marrow transplant. He had just met the woman of his dreams rouhgly 7 months ago and was in love. Life was just starting to work out for him as he was conquering his demons and winning.

We both enjoyed playing poker and I wanted to try to set up a yearly tournament in his name. I am clueless as to how to start this so I wanted to reach out to see if anyone had any ideas. I would need help in all aspects, from getting set up legally to finding a venue in NY to brochures and to securing donations and celebrity players. If anyone can help with any advice at all I would greatly appreciate it.

I would rather try to get this done as a live event than an on-line tournament if possible.

I am deeply sorry for the loss of your friend...far too young and sounds like life was looking good. My condolences to you.

I really wouldn't have a clue what to do first as far as setting up an annual tournament, but my first thought... contact a poker room you are familiar with or even if you weren't familar with them. Maybe they could give you some ideas or thoughts as to how to get started, and if you attach a reputable charity to the tournament, some might even be more willing to help (I have been involved with several charity events over the years and this is something I have come to notice). Usually the more people you talk to about your plan or idea, comes some good people to get you started.

Good luck with your endeavours..one good way to remember your friend.

Sad to hear that i will pray for your friend soul.
If you want to start a yearly tournament online site like pokerstar than i think you should contact pokerstar support team and the details you want to add to the tournament.
For fund -I have no idea from where you can get or how much it can cost.
