Hey everyone,

Just wondering if you guys think tourney or cash games are beatable or does it depend on location, stakes, and other factors. Or are they about even?

I personally think that although cash games are super soft live, tournaments may give a slightly larger edge. As far as online goes, I think both are pretty nitty.

For me I think it’s easier to make money in cash games because you just got to wait for strong hands, push all in, and boom double up. Where in tourneys u might spend an hour or two just trying to get into the money. But everyone has their different strategies and play styles so it all depends on you.

Stakes and your skill level will be the most important factors, ive heard low stakes live cash games are very beatable compare to online.

I more like tourney because there are freerolls and also because I more like play surviving poker with my chips then trying to get more chips, because it looks more easy to win with that way.

I've spent most of my time on the micro stakes cash games. Though all of the big streamers I see online make their living on tournaments. I'm super interested in learning good tournament strategy but I'm not sure what's more beatable. Also it probably matters what has a higher rake too

If you have lots of money play cash game but if you don't,I advise you not to play cash games, just play micro tourneys. It's much better than spending big amounts of money.
Try to play sit n go 1,10$ buy in,it's very cool playing it.

I disagree with the last post. You should play more cash then tourney if you don't have a lot. If you double up once you have either double your stake or your Tstack. One double up won't get you in the money. Wondering if this is a level?

With the same criteria if you lose once, you lose all your money for fall in love with a particular hand or suffer a bad beat

Tournaments are the best form of competitive play where you need to survive different stages unlike Cash games which are in my opinion the hardest format of poker where you could face the toughest badbeats

I play tournaments and cash games, but to raise the bankroll it's very good to play in the cash game, because in a short time you can win money well, in the tournament you can sit for a couple of hours and not get into the prize money, but each player has favorite games- Someone likes to play in tournaments, and somebody's in cash games ... but for a quick cash win the games are very good!

Here I see that the players play in the star, the 3.50 R 180 players, where the first wins around a 480.00 to 520.00 dollars for me that is a good return, duration in average of about 3 hours and a half .

I think I’m cash games u need to be more patient and wait for really good hands where in tourneys u can call for cheap early just to see the flop. Actually I think it all depends on ur play style and bankroll to be honest. Cash games and tourneys can be played the same, all depends on who’s playing it.

Hey. I played HA SNG and cach 6 max. As far as I know, MTT tournaments are rarely won, but the prizes are very large. In cash games your profit is more smooth and stable, although, perhaps, less than in tournaments. Also in MTT tournaments much depends on luck and there is almost no post-flop game. In the cash games, the post-flop game goes on constantly, which gives you the opportunity to develop as a player. All this is just my opinion. I would prefer to get 3 buy-ins every day, instead of winning 90 buy-ins on some random day of the month, or even more than a month.

I don't like cash games. I love tournaments with knock-out players. I'm starting. And I love Spin&Go 3-5$.

I like cash games more than tournaments. In cash games at any time you can end the game, and there is no need to play for 5-8 hours.

I think the cash game is a lot of the place you play, but it can be much more profitable than a tournament that you can play for days and not even enter the ITM.

But it's is my opinion. :)

I love playing in tournaments. The variance in tournaments is so high though. The cards have to be right. Your reads need to be spot on, and if you are running cold you will blind out. If everything is happening like it should you can win a lot of money in a totournament. Even pros do not always cash. They cash a lot more than others, but even the pros loose their fair share of tournaments. I make my money grinding out small stakes cash games. I play cash games out of necessity. I build my bankroll grinding cash games. I play online tournaments freerolls or I play small buy in tournaments when I win enough money from my cash games to buy in to a cheap tournament I do. As for live tournaments, I have no bankroll. When I have an extra $50 or $60 I play in a live tournament when I can.

I prefer larger multi day live tournaments but cash live and online are good ways to build a bank roll. I find playing cash has helped me be more aggressive in MTTs.
