When playing games other than Hold'em, is there a burn card between streets?

Specifically Seven Card Stud Hi?

I'd imagine you'd have 7 max at a table, or you could conceivably be looking at 2 community cards, no? I never really got the purpose of the burn card. If it's to prevent cheating, still don't think it would be foolproof.

No not foolproof but if the top card on the deck has some kind of mark, like a damaged corner or buffalo wing sauce, the burn card will hide it until it's too late to make a betting decision based on it.

Waldo is right. The burn card eliminates one of the easiest and most commonly used methods of cheating.

Yes, 2 community cards are possible. I've been in casino games a few VERY rare times where it happened. In most cases at live tables, the entire table will NEVER stay in the betting long enough to see 2 comm cards required.

If they used a burn card online, we would probably see 2 comm cards a lot. With all the nlhe players, it wouldn't take long for them to figure out that pushing all the way would make the last 2 'community' cards a holdem (turn and river) showdown. ...

Thanks all, especially jamesdenson for the "official casino" way of dealing.

Congrats on your recent certification

you are very welcome and in 7 card some casinos do it diferent if the dealer realizes he is gonna run out of cards some casinos want you to use the burn cards shuffel them back in the pack burn and deal the last round but most just use a community card.
