So when playing tournaments online do most of you try to grind satellites to get in or just straight up buy in? What is your general range for buying in to online tournaments? I'm asking just out of pure curiosity.

I have done both, but, mostly just buy in. If there is a big$ buy in I would like to try, I will give a couple sattys a shot.

For example, I will play sats for the Maximus games on Carbon. Have tried a couple for the OSS on AC, those are crazythough.

I primarily play ring games however I do play tournaments on occassion and will buy in for 2 percent of my bankroll because I am a "NIT" shh don't tell anyone doesn't seem to be to popular these days.

If I do not have 2 percent of required bankroll on a paticular site that I want to buy in for a tournament. I play Ring Games until I have accumulated buy in .
For example say my bankroll is at 256 on a paticular site but I wanted to BI to an 11 dollar tourney. well 2 percent of 256 dollars is only 5.18 so I would need to go play ring games until I earned an additional 5.82 dollars. However If I did not earn the 5.82 before the tourney started I would not play it. System seems to work good for me. However probably would only work for someone that did well at ring games or they would never get in any tournaments.

there are some smaller tourney satellites i have found worth playing in the past. with a weaker competition you can usually win a ticket or two. they're hard to come by now with so many sites off limits to US players.

large satellite entries to things like wsop are really tough, as expected since they do attract good players.

if you cant pay the buyin, then drop down and enjoy the games until you can afford to play. its always better to have some money then none at all.

It's some good sattys going into the carbon poker maximus like someone stated above that I am going to start grinding to win tickets, but it all depends on what my money is looking like, Iff I don't win a ticket but have the money I will still buy-in.

This is my general rule: WARNING, not for most so I don't want to hear from the naysayers. Never buy in for more then 25% of my stack.
I'm not ever going to have 10K at one time (right now) so your telling me I would never be able to buy into 150$ tourney?

So If you have 4$, do 1$, if you have 400$ do 100$ max. If you have 40 you could do a 10, if you lose you have 30, then you can do 7.50, i fyou lose then , do a 5.75, get it?

I guess I would have to be a naysayer unless this formula is for entertainment poker only and not concerned with longterm profit. If so cool. If not I dont know anyone that makes it to the money 25 percent win rate. If the goal is to make profit I don't know anyone professional or otherwise that could sustain that steep of a percentage and still have a bankroll. so I say NAY

I like guarantes not satalites thats the one thing I hate about americas card room everything there is all satelites with like a 2 hour rebuy or late entry so you get peaple goin all in every hand with nothin then just rebuying back in and if your going to keep rebuying why not just do a guarentee
