A couple of days ago I was on the cardrunners site and had a look at Brian Townsends blog. I dont want to go into to much detail what it was about but if you read it you will know. Basically he wrote that he was out in the town drinkin and when he was driving home he was stopped for goin 65 on a 40 zone or something like that. He blew the legal limit nd the policeman let him off for his honesty. There has been hundreds of responses to this post and mostof them negative. Personally I think he was silly to do it considring his fame etc. But he did blow under the legal amount and everyone speeds right?

So i would like to know peoples opinion on the matter in this forum. Do u think people are over reacting? or was BT at fault?

He's lucky he got off. Shame on the cop for not giving him a ticket.

Kind of a tough call IMO, yes you should never never drink and drive, and he did blow under the LEGAL limit but who knows how much more driving he had to go. My point being is that you could drink 6 beer real quick and hop in your car and get pulled over 10min later, upon doing a breathalyzer, he would not blow over as it hasn't had time to reach his blood stream. I wonder if given another 1/2 hr or so if he would have had different results with the officer:confused:

My brother a few yrs back had quite the drunken night and got up the next day and went to run some errands, he got pulled over for speeding, the officer said he smelt like alcohol and he said but officer I haven't had a drink today.. HE BLEW OVER THE LEGAL LIMIT!

Best not to drink and drive at all!

I totally agree with you aloevera. Why should a man of his stature take a risk like that ? If something tragic happened due to him speeding and drinkin it would most definately ruin his career. I dont understand why a man in his position just couldnt get a taxi! its as simple as that  .

Also do you think it was a mistake to write this in his blog at all ?

Stupid thing to do, and it sounds like he got lucky. As to why he did it in the first place who knows - but plenty of people more rich and famous than Brian Townsend have been caught doing the same thing.

In fact, in a way it's probably lucky that he's not that famous: if he was someone better known, they probably wouldn't have been able to give him any leeway.

I agree he isnt that famous to any normal person ...but in the poker worl i thought he was a highly respescted high stakes player ? He also has a very successful bussiness in cardrunner. Would you not agree ?

*shrugs*

To a very select group of people (ie: us, the poker nerds of the world) I guess he's a celebrity - though remember that even in the poker world, he's nowhere near as famous as a Doyle Brunson or Phil Ivey.

And to everyone else in the world, he's a complete nobody.

To me though, his fame (or lack thereof) has absolutely nothing to do with how silly it was of him to drink then drive his car over the speed limit.

Oz Exorcist I must say you do speak complete sense!

It doesnt matter whether you are famous or not you still shouldnt be doing it end of !

As for Brian himself, he must not think that it is a big deal. If he did then why would he post it on his blog in the site that he owns ? I think this was a big mistake for him ! also he hasnt posted another blog since that which was over a week ago now
