so im thinking i need break from poker cause i keep losing with monsters to idiots, here are a few of the hands ive lost over past week or so. lost AKos to K2s, guy raises UTG with K2 flop comes Ah 9d 2s he raises i re-raise and he re-raises again then i call turn is a blank but a spade same thing as before on the flop river comes a spade i check it in case idiot hit and he did he won with a flush, another hand i lost pocket AA to pocket 33, also lost full house over full house i had Ks full of Qs they had As full of Qs thats just some of the big hands i lost with. so what do you think just take some time off or quit all together, i dont want to quit cause i feel like im playing good hands and getting my money in good and just losing to bull crap. would appreciate some feed back

Feedback for taking bad Beats? Brush it off and keep at it. Nothing you can do about bad beats. However usually players call it bad beats when they could of actually stopped villain from drawing by being more aggressive, so just work on your game as much as possible and keep playing. Also taking a break from poker won't suddenly make you become good, the more hours you put into it the better you will be.

If you cant beat the idiots it could be down to a couple of things.

1) short sample size
2) you not adapting to the style of play of the "idiots"
3) you are not as good as you think you are

Without more detailed hand histories im not sure how much we can help. If you are going to post any histories pick a random 5 hands or so where the pot is big, NOT just some where you got coolered.

when i am running bad, i find it helps to step away from the table (even though its not always easy). go find something else do completely separate from poker. i typically play basketball, workout, or even just go drunk with friends. after a few days (or even hours) i feel better about my play and the game

Taking a break lets you calm down, but it doesn't change the likelihood of getting sucked out on by people who played bad cards. When you return, it's exactly the same as before. Thos players are still around, they still play bad cards when they feel like it, and the odds they'll hit are still the same.

If you're consistently getting it in good, that's good poker. In the long run, the most profitable thing you can do is train yourself to keep playing your game so you can take their money. When you walk away, someone else eventually gets it.
