Do you ever get these kind of players? In a live tournament, I'm talking about players at your table that brag about the fact they played in a wsop or the WPT tournament or they won a large sum of money at a tournament. Even players that say they've been playing poker for X number of years. They brag about it like they are one of the elite poker players. Does this make you want to take these kind of players out or just ignore it and play the way you usually play. Sometimes I think players say that so other players can go after them and then he/she will have the advantage. What do you think?

It is why I don't usually talk or even have the chat up when I am playing. I know I may miss some table talk about what people had but then I don't have to listen to idoits all day either.

I had one at a live tournament last week, trying to tell everyone what to do and how to do it right. It was the first time I wished I had an MP3 player to listen to, to block him out.

My daughter (Cheeba) always has her MP3 on when she's playing live. That coupled with the intense glare she can put on makes for a scary sight. I may bring mine for the game Saturday as she swears the music helps...

Cant for the life of figure out why players use MP3 players or whatever when they are playing live. The fact is chatty players will give out a lot of tells. Watch the way they play their first few hands. Do they continue chatting as they play a hand, or only when they are bluffing.

Does their tone of voice change, do they say damn didnt see the straight possibilities out there on the river, when they hold a flush (I know a player that does this), do they go quiet after losing a big hand (tilting maybe)

You will get VERY accurate tells like this, so what should you be doing during all of this, listening to music ? NOPE YOU my friend should be listening, and gaining another slight edge (remember all the edges count)

Ok now the player that is listening to his/her music player. Usually solid but really not paying 100% attention to the table. If strikes me as if that player is nervous, they are trying to take themselves out of the situation. Fair enough if it calms the nerves go for it.

i find that listenin to music is more of a distraction to me... but im one of the more chattier guys in poker... i think it helps me disguise a lot of tells and it helps to ease the pain when i take the other guys money =P sometimes people forget that i'm the one taking their money till they stop listening to me and look at my chip stack... then they're like when did you get all those chips? =D maybe i jus play with a bunch a newbies that get distracted very well....
