i use to like these kind of tournys, because i thought i had a good chance to get my buy-in back if i knocked someone out. then i played one the other night. $1000 gtd, took 5th and kocked out about 7 players at a $1 a head. for a total of about $36 and some cents. with $500 in bountys counting for 1/2 the $1000gtd prize pool. the overall pool was greatly reduced. if there had been no bountys i would have made about almost $60. 1st would have got $240. but only got $121 + bountys. are these kinds on tournys worth playing. i think i will stick to re-buys and just plain freeze-outs from now on.

You can't have it all, there's the same amount of money just distributed differently. You have a better chance at getting your buyin back or making a small profit but there won't be as much waiting for you at the end. Depends on your style and results if you are willing to make this tradeoff.

i like the concept of the bounty tournaments, because there is no better feeling than knocking someone out. but if you cant knock out a lot of people you are better off playing other tournaments with no bounty and the payouts will be much better.

I like bounty tournaments. I usually make my money back but just to brag about the number I knock out.
can CC do a bounty? I thought this idea would be fun- .10cents bounty for every 1000 posts. although, a larger posst count means you are verbos not a good poker player. Also, I would like to see cheaper CC
buy-ins $1 and less for shure but maybe 2-3bucks. maybe once a month.

Instant gratification...

This kind of tourneys are for those who need to feel rewarded every time they knockout a player...

I like them, they are fun to play with... but it's not something I play every day... maybe once a week... or once a month... cuz they pay outs if you make it to the final table aren't as great as a regular tournament.

but they are still fun to play in ;-)

Anything that takes away from the prize pool is not worth it for me. I try not to get into all in situations unless it is attacking a very small stack or having the nuts. I grind.
In Full Tilts KO's you need about 7 bounties to get your money back. People concentrate on the bounties but miss out on the prize. Like eating the chicken skin instead of the real meat.
Now Caesers has a 9PM tournament that is a $130 buy in with a $50 bounty. That might be worth it to fight for bounties however that prize money at the final table is a joke.

I like the private KO tournies..they are smaller without as much of an emphasis on KO's...its more like 50 cents or a buck per KO. That way they are a nice compliment to winning rather then becoming the sole focus of the game. I played a $2 private tourney...and with only 4 KO's...i made my money back at 50 cents a pop.

I love the bounty tournaments they were doing on Carbon..

$10 buy in with $5 being a bounty.

Imagine the pleasure of hitting a full house on the flop first hand, and getting three callers....

Got my buy in back within 2 minutes, then went on to knock out a further 4 people before getting whammed myself when I hit trips but he hit a full house..

Still ended up $30 in profit though and never even got into the money...
