Hey all,

Here I go again asking dumb questions. But, in just reading a post on here, I was wondering if there are bots and how one would detect them, if in the event they were at the table with one. If some one knows how to detect one, please let me know.

And, if Bots are around, what limits of games would they be planted in.For example, would there be any in my poker world of freerolls, play moneys and micro games.

Thanks,

Mike

Bots are real, we probably run into some on micro stakes. I don't think they are a big threat as poker also involves reads and a feel along with calculated plays. I really don't give a thought if it is a bot I am against or not , I just play my cards and watch how opponents are playing and adjust to that..

Thanks,

I would imagine that the Bots would not waste their time at games I play in. lol

Once, at a table, one of the players sent me a message. When I answered him he said, I thought you a Bot, since I was playing strict ABC poker. haha

Thanks for your reply, Bots interest me, just thought I would try to squeeze out some information.

Cya on the felts,

Mike

The bots that I've come across (mainly on FT) would mainly try to draw action into the hand to get the hand to be raked. So they may bet a weird amount pre-flop. I would play .02/.05 and they would open with a .27 bet. More times than not if you re-raise or call then bet they would fold. I saw it so much that everytime I would get AA I would start playing it like I was a bot. Players would re-raise me thinking I would fold. Got pretty comical lol.

I believe there is a bot.
They induce action.
They dont chat.
They have a sizable stack.

One would think that the poker site administrators would know. But, not sure of that.

Good luck on and off the felts,

Mike

Aside from checking what programs were running on the client computer, I wonder how they could know? Human patterns and bot patterns should be pretty similar.

I know for a fact (since I know someone who actually used bots a few years ago) there are bots. Full Tilt found out and blocked his account. Another one on Ipoker. Most bots can be found on the Ipoker network though (at least a couple of years ago) since they have the least best security against it.
pokerstars is very well equiped against bots I have to say, so the chance there are bots is very very small. No guarantee there are none ofcourse. And if PS themselves use bots?? Maybe they do, maybe not. I don't know that.

PS uses very sophisticated methods for that, including recording all mouse movements and clicks there are made.

Hey,

Thanks for the information. Sounds like a plan. I think I will be on the lookout for the Bots, even tho not knowingly been at a table with one. But, I have been at tables where the players played like you described. Having large stacks, and making weird bets.

My reason for posting this was to get some input, since I on occasions see players that play which makes no sense what-so-ever.

I am always on the look out for players who are working together. If I suspect that, I change tables.

Good Luck on and off the felts,

Mike

I will be on the look our for these tell tale signs.

Thanks for your input. I only play for what I can afford to lose. And, that is very small. 01/02 .02 to .04 and maybe up to a $5.00 SNG or tourney.
Other that that, nada. That is my speep. Big Timer. lol

Good luck,

Mike

Stars I met on the boat - I have two Tagged with bot in my selections will ... at first I thought it was a maniac , as no one will play like them . answer the call with such disparate 39 after my 12 bet with AA . flop nothing anyone brings 28K (also unsuited) , but after my bet 18 bet should call again _ what you can hope with his card? but then the fun begins - the turn and river 3 9 ... my loss ... but a few months later I met again with this Maniak and again like a prize with his hand - I do not believe in coincidences , so can only play bot !

I call bs on this, what about the players who bet weird amounts??? I guess they are bots to?

You can't tell a player from a bot based on their weird raise.

It was widely known with a lot of the people I would play with. It was always a bet of .27. No variance. Weird amounts I understand people do that. It was always the same odd amount. You would re-raise them and they fold. You call and bet flop they would fold 99% of the time. Always had 200+ BB in play. I won a lot of money knowing that they were bots.

Would this raise come from the button or CO??

Bots are set up to play a range of hands, they are not going to fold every hand to a raise!

Out of position, wherever it felt like it haha. That's why I said 99% of the time they would fold. Those are just my experiences though. By no means are they the normal for everyone.

I was actually reported by a player that I may be a bot back a few years ago on Stars. I had 6-8 mtt's going and all the sudden my chat boxes changed and I was asked to put in a Captcha word. I thought someone was trying to hack my PC and see my hole cards. I messaged support and they informed me some player thought I was a bot.

Not sure if I should be flattered or disgusted how I play?

Sure bots are real, but there's a lot of misinformation about them in this thread.

I usually play four tables on Bovada cash games and I never chat. I was accused of being a bot because of that. I also take about five seconds to act on every hand, so that helped give me that image. I have never heard of a bot winning consistently

There are many levels of bot sophistication. Simple bots are easily recognized and easily beat. At the other end of the spectrum, you have bots that can beat all but the best players, with real time access to millions of HHs, and that also can chat.

Most of what you think are bots are not - they're likely multitable grinders. Bad bots are easily exploited. Good bots are not recognizable so you treat them like any other good reg that plays better than you. Regardless, they aren't nearly as common as you might think. Point being, bots aren't worth being all that concerned about.
