I did it once early in my poker life. I was in germany at a monte carlo night. I was up close to $1000 everything was going right so i bought a drink or 2 or 3 or .... I left the night up about $300 but that time taught me and I never drink at a table or while playing online now.
I do not drink alcohol at all, never. In my opinion, alcohol during the game of poker is superfluous. Drunk players take absolutely foolish decisions and ultimately, these foolish decisions make them miserable.
Good luck.
Hi.
I got the impression that you have serious problems with alcohol.
I only have the opportunity to play online poker, and sometimes I buy beer with chips, spend time in the game and rest, but when I play good tournaments or cash games at normal rates, I don’t accept alcohol and I focus on the game and try to make fewer mistakes
I'd say booze is a leak but there is something to be said for being a "fun" player at a casino or home game and drinking along with the fish. It may bring your EV down but as long as your opponents' EVs drop more your winrate will go up.
As they say - been there, done that. It happens to drink several drinks and decide that you want to play poker. And if it is freeroll for example it is not problem at all. I have done that several times without any problem. I know my friends though who start playing drunk and loose all their bankroll. For me personally if you play serious game maximum is one beer which helps me to relax and play better. Anything more than that is ok only for freerolls for fun and only if you do not tilt in such situations.
Having said that i have even won some money playing drunk but sometimes variance is on your side no matter how drunk you are and how bad you play.
Noo no problem with alcohol at all..Everytime I ever played live cash I've drank it just makes me more relaxed and focused..I've always won when I was drinking..my only issue is knowing when to get off the table and go have a burger or something lol
