Hello
I'm looking for a book that covers the basics, and will help me in creating a good foundation. Im playing nl5 6-max right now.

Here are some books that I found:

Harrington on Cash Games Volumes 1 and 2
Harrington on Online Cash Games 6-max NL holdem
No limit Hold'em Theory and Practice (Sklansky, Miller)

What do you recommend?

Harrington on Cash Games Volumes 1 and 2 is more on live play. Harrington on Online Cash Games is good. It helps you getting started and has lots of practical advice on huds, inference from stats etc. I know the third title, but never read it.

Good luck :)

Not sure about cash games but if you looking for a great tournament book, try Jonathan Little's "Secrets of Professional Tournament Poker". Def. worth the read. There's a Vol. 1 and 2

 Yes, John Little's "Secrets of Professional Tournament Poker" is a great book to read if your focus is to be a great poker player. My game really improved during and after I read it. If you do get it, while reading have a highlighter with you to mark some things that pop at you.

Professional No Limit Hold Em is a good book. I'm sure you will learn quite a bit if your focus is cash games. I'm bout to read it again.

Thx for answers

But im still confuse. The more I read the more I do not know what book to take

Somebody recommend me Dynamic Full ring by James Sweeney, despite the fact that I play 6max

Btw Professional No Limit Hold'em is not more about live games?

Well lets narrow it down even more-

Are you playing exclusively online or some live mixed in?

Maybe Blackrain79's Crushing Micro Stakes book is in order based on your current stake? What is your BR?

How long have you been playing? Are you beyond just the basics of NLHE? If not start with Phil Gordon's Little Green Book then move on.

A full ring book for a 6 max player - surely you see that doesn't make much sense.

You did mention some pretty good books. Harrington is great about getting you to think about and process hands. Ed Miller also.

I can get you the authirs names if you are nterested in any of them.

I play only online.

A few months ago, I played at nl25 i was b/e.
Now I went back to poker and I have a problem with NL5

I know the basics, but i never use them at the table, Pot odds for example.
So I'm looking for a book that will help me to fully understand basics concepts, and begin to use them.

Smoluch - how long have you been playing?

If less than a year or two you probably need to start out with Phil Gordon's Little Green Book and then maybe get Nathan Williams Crushing the Micro Stakes.

I am concerned when you say you know the basics but choose not to implement them at the table - there is no amount of book knowledge that can help with that.

If you are seeking how to think through a hand then Sklansky's Theory of Poker is good - and Harrington is good for that - if you can read between the lines.

But let's say you start reading Sklansky and it is going over your head - then Phil Gordon is your man - no one states it easier and clearer.

OR just ask some specific questions in the forum (or search the forum) for like "How do you implement pot odds when playing a hand?"

I play poker for +-7 months right now. 3 months ago I crushed nl10 with winrate 11bb/100 after 30k hands, and later i was B/E at nl25 after 40k hands. Later I had a break

About basics concepts i use them, but its more look like feel out the situation and i want to change this. Thats why I'm looking for a book that contains the basic concepts, to read about them, think, re-read, think - > use at the table, no more feel out situation.

Btw Little Green Book is not more addressed to tournament players?

Little Green Book is just general poker - the basics. Not much differentiation at all between tourney or cash. But it is probably the easiest read out there - is the top recommended book in this forum and others (can't tell by this thread) for basic knowledge. Use the search and you will see. A lot of guys have moved past it so they forget about it.

How did you learn what you know now? Any books? Websites? Coaching?

When I played at nl25, i read

Poker Blueprint
Easy Game 3rd edition (only 1 part)
Bill Vosti - How to Beat online No limit holdem 6 max
Verneer - Moving Throught uNL 2010
Ryan Fee's - 6max NL strategy guide

Plus many articles from internet

The problem was that I only fast read the books, and not learned from them.

Also, I learned from DC i have membership

I would have to say Ace on the River is one of my top 3 books I've read. It shows you how to have a bankroll without blowing and how to keep it manage by moving up and not down and how to have a business mindset for poker.

Well then I don't know that a book is the answer but with that new information I would say get Crushing the Microstakes by Nathan Williams,

http://www.blackrain79.com/p/book.html

AND

post some trouble hands and questions in the forum -

Are you using a HUD?
