Likely bluff many times when playing poker butt i wouldn't know it all the time cause the cards generally are not shown. Last time I played the villain outplayed me on the river and made a really good bluff and show the table. Naturally I was embarrassed
This got me to think I generally don't show my cards when I made a really good bluff and when I did the rare times it was to piss other fellow off.
How do people handle this ?
Note I not bothered when the whole table folds after limping in when the BB makes his 6x BB raise and collects the blinds and show his 2-3 off suit bluff. The whole table gets fooled but I don't take it personally

i personally dont think its good to show a bluff.also i dont show when ive the goods either.best keep your opponents in the dark, dont give anyone info they might use on you in the future.just my meagre 2 cents on this topic.oh and when a player bets big under gun and every one folds and they flip over 23 fool on them they will probably live to regret showing that trash in the long run.

some argue that intentionally showing bluffs makes your table image different and later on you are more likely to get paid off with value bets. poker is not about emotions (unless you are exploiting them intentionally). I know i can improve as I get titled rather easily.

If you're playing Nitty, why not show the bluff...however, people will keep this in their memory. I would be scared to do it again...so maybe don't show lol

dont show the bluff, in fact try not to show your cards when you dont have to. showing the bluff is not only bad etiquette it also give villains free information about your game.

The only time you should show a bluff is if you get caught in a bluff.

In order to make a bluff, I try to show their opponents, quiet game, and the first 20 minutes of play on the map. Only then the enemy believes in my bluff.

Only show your cards if you will use it to your advantage. For example, you may want to show that you were bluffing. Then after you have shown your cards, play a bit tighter & then players may call you thinking your bluffing again, then you hit them with a strong hand

mostly I see players showing their cards while folding, and not after a bluff.

Showing a bluff can be good when it comes to putting players on tilt. It can be a useful tactic If your deep in a tournament and want people to start getting knocked out. Personally, I wouldn't recommend bluffing unless you want them to think your bluffing the next time around when you make a similar bet to the one you bluffed with in the first place; in order to get paid off larger next time when your opponent sees you actually have a hand this time.

I never choose to show my cards. What's the motivation to give any information to others at the table other than to get a rise out of them?

hmmm

See for me I will show the bluff depending on the situation. Cash tables if you are higher stack show the bluff then slow play then start to push again when you have the cards. Fish for some reason like to call then lol. Tourney I play looser off the start with some of these plays and show a few times if I don't get caught then tighten up so when I do make a move these tighter players are more likely to call with mid pairs.

Showing your bluffs can get calls in future hands when you have a big hand.
I do the opposite and it works too. I show all my good hands and when I do bluff ( which is not often) players often lay thier hands down. And I never show a bluff or chase cards if I don’t have too.

I just go on the theory give as little information about myself/cards away as possible! Tilting people probably only benefits me in the short-term but giving nothing away is a better long term strategy I believe anyway. Same when they fold to my nuts I don't show as I don't want folk thinking I only back my cards when I have top hand

Like the last poster mentioned, I like to give as little information as possible. All though showing a strong hand will probably give you a pass later down the line. If you're going show a bluff, you should consider showing some winning hands. We all know you going to have to bluff some hands to get a pot. Might as well keep them guessing.

Isn't the whole idea of bluffing to be something rather underhanded thus talking about etiquette is kinda silly in my opinion.

Poker is like a fist battle to the death. It would be silly not to bring a knife if you can and it would be silly to show it to the unaware opponents.

Without the bluff poker impossible. If you play only your strong cards, that much money will never win. Of course, to abuse this technique is also not necessary, but sometimes use it in the game is simply vital.

In the online game much more difficult to bluff, as it is impossible to look into the eyes of opponents and try to understand what they're up to.

When loose aggressive game it is best to limit your bluff. These players love to open. But with this type of game, if your bluff is revealed, it becomes possible, conversely, to play a strong hand as if you're bluffing again.

Plays a big role and your position at the table. The best option is to bluff on the button or in the blinds.

Bluffing is not effective when playing with low stakes. When the game is friendly, everyone at the table relaxed. They don't see each other as rivals. Many people here will be playing against the rules, they have almost no risk. In case of loss they will lose a little, so getting someone to knock out of the game pointless.

During the game on the big bets at the table is absolutely different situation. All players are collected and extremely focused on the game. Each hand winning Bank brings the player a huge profit. Here hardly anyone wants to risk, so the ability to bluff can be very useful.

I don't think it is an etiquette question either. It is more of a strategy issue. In general, I don't you should show your bluffs. If you are sufficiently mixing up your hand range, you will be forced to show marginal hands and the other players will see. I generally don't show my hands either. The only exception is if I'm at a nitty table and everyone is folding to every raise.

I generally never show my hand weather it's a bluff or not but when I do show bluffs it's when I take a line I don't normally take for a bluff. I use it to advertise and then I use the same line when I have value hands to extract max value. As for etiquette I think it is poor etiquette if you show for the sole purpose to piss someone off, unless they are a player with poor etiquette then fair game

Don't worry about it, it happens. There's a name for players who can't be bluffed: "calling stations". How do they do?

I very seldom ever show a bluff unless I have a good reason to do so. If I outplay someone on the river, the last thing I want to do is wise them up. Yeah, I keep hearing you should show so's people will pay off your nuts later.

How often do you make the nuts? While waiting for the nuts you're more likely to make more by robbing your opponent(s) repeatedly. You can't do that if you've clued them in that you know how to take advantage of them through river bluffs. Let them pay for that information.
