I think almost no one will blame a card game. Most will think its just another pampered and spoiled professional athlete doing whatever he feels like because he is a star. Unfortunately, some will also call attention to the race of this particulate athelete. Sorry for bringing it up, but sadly it is true.

Yeah they said on ESPN that it's a gambling debt. But Arenas is overrated and constantly injured, he doesn't belong in the NBA. As Tonowanda said, he's another pampered and spoiled professional athlete.

My friend sent me a message about this a couple hours after the story came out and yes I agree Gilbert Arenas is all about the money do you guys even know how much this guy is making? He's only playing for the money you would know this because he isn't playing with the same fire that he was when he wasn't a superstar. I thought that of all people Gilbert Arenas would not be someone to do such a thing. This act is just tarnishing the name of the NBA. I hope that he is punished accordingly if he did do this. I also read another article that the media is telling the story wrong and it was blown out of proportion. We'll see i dont know why so many players are debts to eachother they make millions and they owe people money still. I also read an article about a pitcher sueing a former teammate for debt that was no fully paid I think it was Chan Ho Park and someone else you can search it on google if you want but yeah the moral of these two situations is to not lend anyone money. I learnt this because i lent my friends money and they did not pay me back or refuse to back me back so now i told them that i will no longer be lending or spotting anyone money because i dont want the stress of hassling them to pay me back if they dont got the money then that sucks for you.

This has VERY little to do with poker and EVERYTHING to do with dumb ass people. The NBA to be more specific.

Here is an article about that incident. This thuggish behavior is an embarrassment and one of the reasons I no longer follow the NBA. From Latrell Sprewell attacking his coach, to Kobe Bryant being charged with rape, to Ron Artest charging into the stands to attack a fan and now this, it's hard to support the NBA. So I don't!

Seems like a players who make millions of dollars think that the laws (however you feel about them) doesn't apply to them. They should be treated like anyone who breaks the law. I guess alot of superstars want to be gangsters as well as a millionaires. If they worry about being hurt or anything else, hire a body guard. Just my thoughts.
Take care

This is standard for NBA/NFL. If it was NFL though, the player would've pulled the gun on himself.

Too bad they don't have 'virtual guns' for online poker (that you could purchase with FPPs). I'd be racking up the FPP's for more ammo (shooting gun at donkey emits an electrical shock from their mouse.... only to be used during tournament play when donkey's terribad call KO's you from tourney).

Why is this a "Black eye for US poker"? These thugs would have done the same thing over a game of TiddlyWinks. It's more of a black eye on the NBA imo.

Couldn't agree more, NBA players have to get rid of this ghetto mentality that alot posess. I know it is just a few bad eggs, just because you came from the ghetto doesn't mean you have to still act ghetto once you get in the league. They should be trying to help, ecpecially where alot of these guys came from. I sympathize but then stuff like this happens and you wonder why you even care.

Gun rights. Yea!

Just what everybody needs a loaded 9mm, after all its my right to bear arms.

I'd rather have a loaded .45 and not need it than need it and not have it.

If you make it against the law to carry guns, the only people who are going to be packing heat is criminals. They already have the intention of robbing/killing/hurting etc.

Please don't confuse the 2nd with thugs that threaten each other with firearms to settle their differences.

I can't belive most of you all belive this doesn't reflect poker but the NBA\NFL.With all that us here in the US are putting up with about poker rights etc.Hell i can not play poker here in Alabama but i can go to another county an play (bingo)it's a mfing slot machine, but i can't play poker hahaha. We have tried hard to say the game has cleaned up in the later half of the 20th century to get rid of the wild wild west mentality. Now when poker comes up this is going to be fuel for the fire just watch poker\gambling =crime\murder etc.

All I got to say is both players will probably not play in the NBA anytime soon. Both will probably do jail time. GM will probably be fired. They're all idiots.

well this is the best is the best thing that could have happened to the wizards franchise. when gilbert arenas is found guilty in front of a federal jury for having a firearm in a locker room(a rule not allowed by the players union, the wizards will have the right to terminate the rest of his contract. i think the whole card situation is hilarious and i know arenas is trying to quiet it down, but the wizards are the true winners here.
