After some interesting table chat during the last few nights, some players including myself were discussing the difficulty in double cashing the Big Doubles. Normally we see around 170 players, which is enough to meet the guarantee, but we sometimes come close to the 200 mark where we can get 27 places to pay. This would make double cashing significantly easier. There are also some very nice bonuses for making double final tables, or being the best double casher (there is normally 1 person to double cash these btw, so if you double cash, you most likely are the best cash). So if you are rolled for it, please consider it.

I don't actually know the numbers on these - do the benefits of double cashing outweigh, say, the benefits of having less people play and therefore having an overlay on the tournament?

It depends. If one person double cashes, they automatically are the best double cash which is the equivalent of around 5th place. If you make 2 final tables, you would get a little better than 1st place, provided no one else makes 2 final tables.
