Why do people bet pot when half to 2/3rds size does the same thing.

In later stages more then early, opening for 3 times the BB when the blinds are high looks like a smart move, but in reality you are risking a large percentage of your stack. Doesn't a raise thats greater than the BB do the same thing. Say blinds are 2,500/5,000 with ante of 400. Raising 3 times the BB means you make it 15K so you are risking 15K to win 11,100....not really a good ratio. If you make it say 7,500 to 8,000 well now you are risking 8K to win 11,100 a lot better ratio for you. By over betting the only way you get called is when you are beat, or am I not seeing something right?

I agree with you,but Until recently when they added the slide bar on Fulltilt. I think people bet pot, just because there was a button for it, rather than back spacing and typing a 3x the big blind bet.

You cant raise it up to $8k if the blinds are 2,500/5000, it has to be 10k min!

In later stages often only I duplicate the bet if I have many chips; only if I am low of chips I go all in.

This one is a difficult stage where the bets take to themselves rapidly our chips.

coz they don't know what is the pot odd and what an opponent needs to call. Sometimes, especially on straight and flush draws betting 2/3 or half is enough to mathematically put your opponent in a wrong decision. But they don't know that. but some do know it and see that you have called before in the same position so want to get more from you. And also if you have something and call a pot bet, this gives more insides about your hand.
