Which is the better pre-flop all-in?
AK off suit?
QJ suited
or
pocket 10s

I know it different based on the position and players at the table. But what is the best all in? Or are all these not really all in hands? If not what about AK suited vs pocket QQs. I'd say i'd take the qqs any day but if you dont know your opponents cards are qqs an all in hand before the flop, at a high stakes game? 10s and even JJs i'd say are no good because if there's a calling hand in a preflop all in for a high stakes game you're probly getting a coin flip at best, which won't cut it in the long run.

As with most poker questions the answer is....it all depends. How many players are at the table? Is it a cash game or a tourney? Where are you in relation to the payout structure? How large is your stack vs. the blinds and the other player's stacks? What are you trying to accomplish with your all in move? Are you first to act or are you calling an all in? If you are calling an all in how many are left to act after you? If you are calling an all in how many callers have called the initial all in? I could come up with about a hundred more questions for this situation that would affect which hand I would rather have in an all in situation. :hmmmm: If you are going by pure showdown equity then the pocket 10's are going to win more showdowns than either of the other two hands in a heads up showdown but I don't think that is really the question you want answered.

1 vs. 1, pocket 10s is better. But if you have a good reason to believe opponent has a higher overpair, don't.

1 vs. 5, AKo is better. (But you will still lose most of the time. Just your odds are better than 10 10.)

QJ suited? Er... never push with it. They are drawing hands and you should be trying to pay as little as possible to see more cards.

The answer is definitely "it depends" - QJs may be a fine shoving hand if you're short stacked on the bubble and would be the first one in the pot. Other times, not so much.

Some general thoughts on the other two though:

Unless you're up against AA or KK, with AKo you're either in a coinflip with a pair, or you're a big favourite over an unpaired hand. Things could be worse.

With TT, you're either in a coinflip situation against a couple of overcards or crushed by an overpair. It's also possible that you're ahead of two lower unpaired cards or crushing an underpair... but hands like that aren't really likely to call your shove.

So I think the answer in both cases is: it depends how much you like coinflips
