Betting patterns are one of, if not the most important elements of online play. Mostly because you don't have much else to rely on. I've tried to see into people's souls by staring at their avatars, but I haven't had much luck
Odd bet amounts probably don't mean much. It's probably just someone who always bets a certain percentage of the pot. I usually bet three quarters of the pot on the flop (regardless if it's for value, a semi-bluff, or a continuation bet) so you'll see some odd amounts that won't mean anything.
The focus should be on finding your opponents patterns. Does he bet big with big hands and small with small hands? Does he bet draws? If so does he bet draws differently than made hands?
Questions like those will lead you to answers and information that you can use. Don't get distracted by quirks.
