What is the best site for finding home games?
I have tried DIY poker but most of the games on there are gone now. Is there any
site that you know of that stays updated?
Any other advice on home games would be appreciated.

isn't the point of a home game to play with people you know?

I've used k9poker.com with success, however I still find that getting the friends together, or having a friend introduce you to people he/she knows that play as well is better. It's rather unsafe to just sit and play at a home game where you are an unknown, and possibly know no one. Stick to playing online, or organizing them yourself. If all else fails, suck up the rake and head to the casino.

This.

When I was at the bookstore I spent about a half an hour reading through 52 Ways To Cheat At Poker.

It's ridiculous how easy it is to pull off. So much that despite knowing what to look for after reading it, I wouldn't want to be in a situation to call someone out for it in such an environment.

I stick to games amongst my friends and the cheap tourney's at the casino.

Reminds me of the police game in Rounders. :D

Well said, and an unfortunate reality. Even the underground card rooms typically have well informed regulars, an exceptionally high rake, and is in a constant state of threat from robberies and/or law enforcement. It's best to network carefully in casual environments. If you happen to find a soft game that is safe, be as much of a cordial and amicable person as you can. Nobody wants the silent, stonefaced killjoy to return every game.

Yeah, I've played a few games with people I don't really know so well and it isn't very comfortable trying to explain to a complete stranger that that big value chip he tossed in the pot is actually only a call because he never said anything about raising, or how string betting isn't allowed, or please don't call somebodies all in until its your own damn turn to act... if you're gonna play with strangers you're better off to do it in a casino, at least there the dealer or floor person will handle any disputes.
