I ask because there are so many people who say you should play satellites as a micro player. The problem I find, for example an FPP satellite is quite a big margin of your fpp balance should you try to play. It's great if you qualify for a tournament say for example an $11.00 buy-in, the problem is MOST of them are rebuy tournaments and unlimited rebuys at that so it leaves you wondering if they are actually worth it as in reality a micro player isn't going to have the bankroll to be able to even add-on let alone rebuy if you bust. Are there any sats that really are worth it and can direct me in the right direction. Cheers.

ps: This is pokerstars.

Maybe someone else has a different opinion, but I prefer SnG to satellites when I am dealing with micro stakes. My problem with satellites at a micro buy in level is that people dont take it seriously and you end up wasting your money/points. This is especially true in rebuy's. I dont have any stats to back this up since this is mostly from my experience. Maybe you will have better luck than I.

So do u use points only on PS? or u have points on Full tilt as well?

Is there a way to grind the FPP like on Full tilt. (FTP has a 650 game that gives u 2500 FTPst if u get top 2 ) Is there any PS games that are like this or similar so that i can build a FPP bank roll? That would be cool if i could do this i have 430 FPP

I know on Full Tilt, not sure about Stars, if you win entry to a tournament that you bought into with points, you will get points if you unregister.
You only get T$ when you buy in with cash.

Exception is The Big Little tournament ticket, which if you register on a sat and win it and you unregister you will receive a TBL ticket instead of points or T$/cash (the 2.20$) .

No, if you play a cash satellite to the BLT, you get T$ when you unreg from the BLT.

i do the exact same thing!

i find them to be very very soft and win a decent number to make them profitable

I hope to get back into playing some Satty's when I have more time and a bit larger BR.

I won a triple shootout for the PS Sunday million a ways back. I found the competition to be rather soft. It's T$ but there are reputable people that will give you about 95% of it in R$.
Takes awhile for it to fill up tho...

I personally do not like satellites because in order to get paid, in general, you have to play well and avoid bad luck in two consecutive tournaments.

If you win the ticket you can turn that into T$11 or are you stuck playing. Reason I ask is because i have about 2100 FPPs right now and I might do this instead of getting the GTD $25 that you can get in the VIP store.

You can always unregister and get $11 in tournament dollars. It´s a good use of your FPP´s ...

Preach it, brother.

My one an ony experience with an FPP MTT with rebuys on Poker Stars so disgusted me, I don't think I'll ever play another one.

1. Go all-in preflop with whatever cards they have
2. Bust out
3. Rebuy
4. Repeat

If I wanted to play slot machines I'd play bleeping slot machines.

This is very true for the 3fpp or 10fpp ones. These literally are donksments shove fests. If you start playing in 500fpp+ then they start to be more interesting and more realistic chances of cashing. The problem with such the low buy-in ones is that only one place is avaiable or something daft with 300+ people so it is kind of understandable people will ship/rebuy for a while as playing tight in these just doesn't work. Most of them are turbos and shortstack turbos at that. Definetly a lottery game in my eyes.

The poster is wrong about full tilt poker, I emailed them cause I was pissed, they no longer give any points for unregistering, they give you a ticket and thats it, really sucks. Sometimes you will see a game where you can register for 20 points and if you get 2nd or 3rd place, they give you a skimpy 20 points back or 65 on the one I played, that really sucks cause that is how I built up my points on FTP, now only play for 5 points or 20 points, and the hell with destroying my bankroll trying to get points, its just not worth it.

Gday, Great subject to bring up.

My points mean a lot to me, so I use them when im down on my bankroll a little. I too (like a couple of the other players who left a post), will use them to get tourneys dollars. I simply qualify for a BLT tourney for example, (it will automatically enter you into the tourney), then, just UNREGISTER and it will give it back into your tourney dollars account, then, try do it again, and that means ive got some flexability in my bankroll.
