Just want your guys opinions on the best books that have helped or are helping you the most. Books that target the cash game micros/low stakes and target online poker, not live and tournaments.

I could do with doing a bit more studying and studying different types of material as at the moment it's usually just watching videos, reading numerous forums and reviewing sessions, im not currently reading a book.

Do you make a point to study, or just do it when you have some free time and don't feel like playing?

I've also seen people suggest that subbing to the large threads on here is a good thing to do, so ill go ahead and do that too.

Cheers CCers

Why do you need books for micro stakes .. lol ?? Professionals write mostly strategies dealing with medium and high stakes regs.

Most fishes survive at micro's with decent poker skills, math, patience and BRM. If you read books and try to play at micro's then good luck dealing with fishes and whales who play loose every other hand. Don't bother with a book for these stakes is what i would suggest or else just read "Super System".:bebored:

Thomas Bakker - "Analytical No-Limit Holdem: Crushing mid-stakes short-handed games"
Matthew Janda - "Applications of No-Limit Holdem"
Will Tipton - "Expert Heads Up No Limit Holdem: Optimal and Exploitative Strategies" (regardless of whether you play HU or not)
Bill Chen - "The Mathematics of Poker" (if you feel the need :))

I never really read the books about solid strategy tips. I read poker books to get an idea of concepts which you can then put into use.

used to read lots of books, but i find it easier to learn from watching videos, studying the wiz, and reviewing hands

another fun and useful method is to pick a villian that you have a ton of hands on and if they do something like steal a lot from the cutoff...figure out their range and then figure out what hands you will 3b with

Everyone starts small, to improve your skill you need to play. You can't start learning poker in the sunday million. A book for micro stakes isn't really a bad idea :) I even enjoy reading poker books. Nothing wrong with it.

Mate, please don't do any of these things to learn how to play poker...

I've recorded 200k profit at 888 in 1.3 million hands. (Check my graph thread)

The problem with learning from books and videos etc etc is that you will be learning how to play in one individual spot at a time. There are an infinite amount of spots. It is much more time effective to simply learn how to make proper calculation at the table. This way you can work out any spot.

Also, you learn to trust knowledge to make your decision. This actually makes it much more difficult for you to work out plays for yourself.. You need to learn to calculate decisions for yourself, not simply copy other peoples plays.

My thread for written lessons will really help you. Just post a full review of any decision and I will show you your miscalculations.

I'm currently reading "Crushing the Microstakes" which is aimed specifically at microstakes cash games. It's been interesting so far but I can't say how good it is compared to others as I haven't read other books on the subject.

Read a book and study poker to grow up your level.
And a review hands to learn what your are doing wrong.
I think that
