Best Poker Player Ever?!

He was the first player to win a top prize of one million dollars in poker tournaments. Brunson was ten times event champion of the world series of poker. It is also one of four players in the world to have won consecutive main events at the World Series of Poker in 1976 and 1977.

It's really hard to find anyone better than Ivey or Hellmuth with all they have accomplished all around poker. I would give the edge to Ivey as he is way better in mixed games.

chip reese by far the most complete player ever.

Writer Donnie Peters suggests that Erik Seidel should be in the conversation. He makes an interesting argument by comparing Seidel's and Ivey's tourney results. That considered, I still believe that Chip Reese has an edge.

I'd prob go with Chip Reese as well, with Ivey close behind.

Definitely think Seidel belongs in the conversation and is someone who's very underrated.

When Ivey inevitably wins the Main Event we'll all laugh that this ever even a discussion.

First sentence above in the running for silliest statement of the year. Probably would go with Unger, at his best, he dominated, but Chip Reese is a solid choice also.

Phil Ivey... And Tom Dwan is close because he is the most creative and plays the game the RIGHT way when you think about it....

I wouldn't consider Tom Dwan even in the top ten myself...

Particularly not if there would be one as the best in the history of poker. for I would have at least 2 or 3 very good players who won many things in the world.It is hard to say one player I think.

The best player ever for me is Daniel Negreanu.

There are all the criteria to make this call... but if you talk about all around from cash to tournament and all the intangibles, I would have to give it to Daniel Negreanu... in terms of real close behind i wuld say phil ivey or phil hellmuth and tom dwan.... this is a hard question... It is early but daniel colman shows he can play large buy ins consistently and make deep deep runs...

I'm for Stu Ungar, but he had unfair advantage as autistic disorder with benefits imo.

Seriously, that's the attitude I bring to every game, until proved otherwise.

How do you answer a question like that? Best at what? Live game or on-line? Tournaments or cash games? Full ring, v. short-handed v. head-up? Fixed limit v. pot limit v. no limit?

I've seen all types. Extremely dangerous fixed limit players who become the biggest no limit fishes, and vice versa. Tournament winners who lose all their winnings in cash games. On-line hot shots who're lost without their stats and HUDs and lose big time in live cash games. Live game players who're utterly lost and hopeless playing on-line.

No way to answer such a question since there is no one poker game.

Stu Ungar for me. Winning around a third of the tournaments that you entered in your life is just insane.

Probbably Ungar,but there are so many good players,you cant say who is best.

for me the best poker player in the world ever for me is Daniel Negreanu. He is all time money list player but above all he has achieved this whilst being the best ambassador at the same time and also whilst there has been the most amount of people as well. Sure Stu Angar won bracelets but the fields were not massive like nowadays
