I understand that after a big loss it's often tempting to insult other players or try to build up a sense of self confidence or just blow off some steam by being rude online to strangers without consequence. I'm guilty of being a dick when I've gone on tilt in the past. But this sort of behaviour isn't good for anyone.

I'm primarily a live cash game player, playing limit and no-limit hold 'em in local card rooms. I've recently started playing tournaments online and know I have a lot too learn. I'm currently playing a deepstack online and though I have cashed in many of the tournaments I've played, final tabled a few times, and came 1st three times I know I've brought a lot of my cash game play into it and it causes a lot of leaks. During the current tournament I started getting berated by a player because he didn't like my standard opening raise size it seemed. I saw on sharkscope that he lost 2000 over his last 500 hands and this is likely the root of his tilt so I can understand his anger. But for all you players that do this, please don't. It is bad for the game on the whole. If you can't handle swings don't play poker. You aren't entitled to winning and if you are as good as you project in that behaviour then your results will speak for you.

End of rant!

Anytime you encounter a player going off, they are the ones at a disadvantage. Really don't mind someone questioning a play, I'm the one getting more information. As far as it being good for the game, not sure that matters. People being poor sports or thinking they are entitled will happen in all walks of life. Why not at the poker table? Isn't that what drives YouTube? We have evolved into a sensational society who enjoys watching this type of behavior.

I rarely trash talk but I love when I'm dominating a guy and the insults come flying at my face. QUITE entertaining.

More often than not the guy that talking $#!+ on chat, is a sign that you are under his skin and he will try to make winning pots against you an ego thing. Something always good to know when you have a monster hand..

I get where you're all coming from. I love trash talk, it's most of my interactions with my friends. I'm a cook and it's how you get through the day. I also don't mind it at a table. But relentless vulgarities and attacks out of the blue (in the last instance I wasn't even in a pot with the guy) are just stupid. I do however like seeing someone on tilt after I take a pot haha

Dont get intimidated. Intimidating is some player trick to win you. keeping calm when you lose will play its part. sometimes cards also against you. its fun to watch some fights.

The way I look at it is that if anyone says anything at all, they have given away crucial information. You may not realize it right away. You may not know what information was given away. But there is always something there.

If you want to do well, you will be silent and just observe. The dangerous ones are the ones that do not talk at all. Remember in online poker, chatting is the only form of communication you can monitor.

That is how I look at it. Maybe I am right. Maybe I am just spewing out of my mouth. Who knows! Anyway, that is my two cents.

P.S. Maybe we are all just a bunch of insignificant clustering of molecules on a big blue ball spinning and flying through space!

Not good

It is what I don't like to see at the poker table. I have turned my chat off to get away from such bad manners. I wish the sites would punish or ban players that do this.

I dont mind and actually like clever, witty **** talking. If you have to swear or whatever it's not laconic it's weak. I'm cool with critiquing play or just being upset and venting or whatever because it is a social game. If you have to downgrade yourself to swearing then you take away the gentleman from the gentleman's game. I swear everyday all the time but not at the tables.

Clever or calculated trash-talking is fine, but the vulgarities some players resort to are unacceptable. If I'm at a table with a bozo spewing hateful, demeaning comments, I typically turn off the chat and ignore him. If you let them, bad eggs like that can really spoil a great experience. Don't let them!

i agree that straight berating players is bad but can't personally say i have never done it not proud of it but it happens from time to time most revel in seeing someone go on tilt but as general rule you shouldn't do this my opinon but from time to time you have that very good player ready to set a gasket off and spew so in those moments can't say that i don't like to dig the knife in a little bit and make them scream and help them lose those chips that i want bad i know but it can be tactical

Without any intent of truly hurting the opponent, I find it very useful to taunt player during cash games or tournaments, especially if you have already played with the player before.

It can be very profitable to tauned in the right wey in the right time :)

Don't take any of these taunting personally and keep on with your game

Its often been said that its the quiet person people should worry about. And this is also true in poker, because if an opponent is talking trash or berating you (or others), that player is giving out a lot of information that you can use against them.

Hi.
During or after the game, I am absolutely not interested in the statements or opinions of my opponents. I do not care their opinion. I never even pay attention to what players write in chat. But if I see that my opponent makes a mistake, I always try to use it in my favor.
Good luck.

Personally, I could care less about trash talking.
I understand why some players incorporate that into their games and have no objections when that is done to destroy weak minded individuals who react to it.
My only question to you is this “Why are you focusing on Table Trash Talking?”
Poker is a game of discipline and patients, so maybe it would be more productive if you focused on this aspect the game. [IMHO]

Hello.
Welcome to the community.
Sometimes you can meet crazy players who offend others. I believe that an account such players should be blocked for a few days.

Ignoring it always makes you the winner, and gives you the advantage game wise. They will tend to be hyper agressive and you can use that in your favor. That's on both sides, the ones that lost to you will want revenge, and the ones that won a hand or two and are talking themselves up, or you down, will play loose and just try to push you out usually. Just be silent and wait for your opportunity.

I am guilty of trash talking with others. Usually, its mutually accepted or we stop and play without much conversation...
I love when a big mouth starts to verbally abuse the weak players... Then see how he gets trapped and loses everything by a girl... Its only a game. However, the worse comes out for a freeroll at times... LOL.

I love to trash talk in every game I play, not just poker. Video games, jiu jitsu, shooting, facebook... now that I think about it, I'm just a natural shit talker.

Online trash talking is no big deal. Not a big fan when it's a live game.

If someone is too aggressive i just block messages from him. Do not allow such things to influence your game. :)

personally I really don't mind someone blowing up the chat box. Let them unleash there frustrations verbally (So to speak). Most of the time I have a big draw, or a set, and they have a draw. Basically, in most cases I'm ahead when I make the call on them, and get upset when I hit my 15 outer. It shows me that they cant or wont do the math need to be successful. This means I can exploit them. I just hope I get the hands to take their stack before anyone else does.
