I am a member of pokerstars, ACR, party poker, Titan and 888.To become one of the `top` echelon players what must be wagered/risked on a monthly basis in any or all of these sites?

I have looked but have not been able to find out this dollar amount. I know partypoker has a diamond club but that seems to be beyond the elite membership status.

To clarify, how much time would be spent on any one of these sites and how much money would I be expected to wager on a monthly basis to remain within the top membership rank?

As an aside, how much must someone wager starting from the bottom to reach the top membership? How much time would it take a person to reach this plateau?

I knew a guy who was "Super Nova" or something like that (highest rank) on PokerStars eight or ten years ago. The number $25K in rake (annually I assume) comes to mind.

I know on PS every 1$ rake is worth 5,5 VPP's.

100k VPP's is Supernova
1 Million VPP's is Supernova Elite

This means that to achieve supernova you'll have to rake 100.000/5.5 = $18.181,81
Supernova elite = 1.000.000/5.5 = $181.818,18 .

Basically, you'll need to be risking a lot of money and it would take a very long time.

Thanks for the replies. Online gambling is big business and in addition to the bottom-up view I'm looking at the analytics top-down to get a better handle of the environment that I'm in.
For example, some networks are listed on exchanges and I'm trying to correlate the balance between a site's offerings and what keeps certain players there. If the player(s) is making money and the site is making money who and what are the player profiles that lose money?
If I can profile the losing player I can then begin my trek to the opposite end of the spectrum taking every form of compensation (player points, free (Ha, ha) tickets...etc..) into account. And if I invest in these companies in the stock market perhaps I can hedge my losses when they occur.

Interesting idea but i think that the poker sites had already calculated the rake and rake back in such way that they are winning at the end. Otherwise they will simply not be able to continue with their business. Your best bet is to try to become better player and win more money than you loose. Achieving elite status does not necessarily mean that you are good player and winning. It just means that you play at high stakes.

The only sure think in gaming is the house always wins. It's possible to beat other players and be profitable but I don't think it's possible to make more over a large number of hands than the house does for hosting those hands.
