I guess my title says it all. I've been playing poker on and off, and it really is just a hobby for me, I will definatly not stop playing, but I usualy spend approximatly 10$ per month, do a couple of tournaments etc.... Then I figured I might as well try grinding it up.

So I've grinded up in 3,40$ SNG, 18 players turbo, from 10 to 60 $.

My bankroll is currently at 50$ and I am wondering if theres any time of SNG I can play to have good bankroll management. Technicaly I would need minimum 150$ to grind 3$ SNG's, is it really misadvised to do so with less?

Thanks!

I always thought good BR management was not to spend 5% of your roll on any one event. Based on that, you should only need to get to $60 to do the $3 SNG's. At least, that's how I've been managing my BR. The one question I would be do you need to consider fees into that or not. If I'm wrong, I hope someone explains why so we can both learn :)

check out chris fergusons challenge
BR is explanied fully there
i personally use 100 buyins BR
but this is probably conservative
i think at least 50 buyins is reccomended
good luck

Sure its bad br management but hey its just a hobby and something you enjoy right? I wouldnt worry in that case and carry on, chance are you can go broke but it does seem like a big deal to you. Get too 150 at least before you move up, I am playing the 3$ 18s and wont move up untill at least 400$

Hmm...so maybe I'm slightly mismanaging my BR. I was playing $3 SNG's with a BR of about $115 I kinda like the 50 buy in rule that was mentioned in here; I think I'll give that a shot (minus playing in the CC League games which are $3) I really thought the 5% rule I mentioned above was the standard...maybe for ring games?? Anyhow, thanks for the info all.

This is a guide used by some grinders

STT - 65 buyins
18 man - 90 buyins
27 man - 108 buyins
45 man - 128 buyins
90 man - 150 buyins
180 man - 200 buyins
