It really depends on what you're comfortable with. If you're good at SnGs, they are probably your best bet. Remember to play with good bankroll management, AKA, don't play SnGs with relatively big buyins. You might be good playing $5 or $6 buyin SnGs, which would give you 50-60 buy-ins.

IF YOU ARE A WINNING PLAYER YOU SHOULD HAVE ZERO DIFFICULTY WITH $300 PLAYING THE $10 SIT AND GOS OR $10 TOURNAMENTS. YOU CAN MAKE SERIOUS MONEY IN A SERIOUS AMOUNT OF TIME, SERIOUSLY.

CAPS LOCK ARE SERIOUS BUISNESS.

I know at first it felt like I was being yelled at! Now it feels like it is serious...well seriously don't play 10$ tourneys or SnGs with a 300$ BR.....my suggestion is to play 1-3$ sngs, or mtts. Cash games play 10nl

Are 90 buy-ins for SNG truely neccessary?

That seems like overkill imo, I dunno I am just more of a risk taker I suppose, the micro levels are just too grueling for me to waste an hourly wage on. He said he had been playing for awhile so Im assuming hes not a noob, $10 sng's are hella soft especially off the mainstream poker sites.

10nl for $300 is correct though i agree.

SNG Banks

If you really don't care about reloading your account then 20 buy-ins should be enough for single table tournaments. That's assuming you're a winning player.

If you never want to reload then I'd suggest starting out at the $5 tables with 50 buy-ins as a bank.

Maybe you should post some of your records to give us a better idea of how well you are doing?

better safe than sry but I did goof a bit, although if hes not using proper br now i might be better to do it this way...I usually go with 2% of your br for tourneys and sngs, and 5% for cash :)

The smaller the sng the less buyins you need. I agree with Double-A's numbers.

First of all, I suggest getting a new keyboard of fixing the caps on your old one. BECAUSE THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN CAPSLOCK IS NOT WORKING ON YOUR KEYBOARD. most of us here, I would say 99.9% know how to read and are not blind, so we can see just fine. As for your br question, I would start at sngs with 40 buy ins or so and tourneys 50 or more.

You want to be playing against players that aren't playing smart. Yes it sucks when when 9-4os calls your pre-flop raise and the board comes A-9-4, but for all the times that flop comes, 98% of time it doesn't.

There are some great strategies for playing SNGs out there and if you follow them, especially at lower buy ins, you can make a serious ROI.

Double A made a good point that not everyone always considers. If you are willing to reload without major strain then you cant have some leway. Knowing nothing of your game I would suggest the $5 SNG or MTT but if you are a winning player you could go up soon.

On a seperate topic, if you are serious about poker you should get PT, or maybe there are better trackers for SNG, but tracking is very important and really changed my game around.

Good luck, keep learning and it should all work out.

The answer is pretty simple.

Start at the smallest levels. If you win consistently over 15,000 or so hands (in a ring) move up a level. If you start to lose, move back down.
Do the same with S&G's. When you see that you're winning a consistent rate over a decent sample of games, move up a level.

You *should* be using a program like PokerTracker to keep track of how you're doing and plug leaks while losses are still cheap.

Chris Ferguson advises 2% of your Bankroll. Which is $6 for you. Start there first. Theres donks at every level. To play in the $10 SNG's and MTT's I would have a BR of $500. Play in the $100 you should have 5K. You are trying to build a BR. You are also trying to expand your knowledge of the game at the same time. Dont get the two confused. Chasing after money is no good. Find out where you feel comfortable. If you start winning and feel adventurous go ahead and play that $10 SNG but dont hesitate to come back down when you run into a lull. For now stay out of cash games.
I built up a $100 deposit to 1K on line. I have a Brick and Mortar BR over 10K.
But I still play the Ferguson for $1 on Full Tilt to practice new ideas and play Razz and HORSE which Im learning. I won the Razz on Monday for $81 and came in the money at 40th tonite on the HORSE. Do what makes you feel comfortable.

I agree with most of these guys, the 5-6$ limit is for you. If your not too great at cash games, stay away from them. Period. They are a huge sap to a chaps bankroll. I would also stay away from the 90 man S n G ' s. 6-10 players sounds good.

Game-Plan = Master the 5-6.5$ S n G ' s then move up when your BR allows it. Tournaments: With your BR I would definitely stick to the lower limits , but if you are showing great success at the end of a week, treat yourself to a 10+1 or something like that.

The lower buyin SnGs do have a lot of donkeys but isn't that what you want? If your table is full of them then just sit back and wait for the right moment.

I would say that 20-30 buyins is good for Sngs. A little more for tournys. That is what I would go by.

I would definitely say start at the $5 sng tourneys, build up your bankroll, and then move on to the next level, possibly $10 sng. good luck buddy

No. 10-15 is enough. With $300 bankroll you should be playing $20-$30 SnG's (single table).
Do u really thing 10-15 buy-ins are enough to survive even the smallest of varience?

I think the standard advice is about 1/50th of BR for MTTs or 1/20th for SNGs. Higher divisors if you want to be safer. But you might have to play your way up to that level. Otherwise, a complete novice with a 20K BR would start in 1k SNGs which would be a bizarre recommendation.

Cash Tables

Since you say your not that good at cash tables I would start at low stakes and get some practice at them cause its the best place to build a really sweet bankroll at. I play tournies as in MTT's hate SNG's but I make my money at the cash tables!! :) Also do lots of reading on Bankroll Management and play
