What is the general rule regarding the amount of money you need to play Mixed games (Horse, 10-game, 8-game mixed etc.)? I've read it was 300x the big blind but that's only in like draw games. SO what's the general rule on mixed games

If you want to be 100% safe, use the BRM rules for PLO. It plays the biggest. But in reality, you won't need that much of a roll, since you're only playing 1/8th of your hands as PLO, and your edge is bigger there than at a normal PLO table.

I'd just stick with 20-30 buy ins for the PLO part.

It really depends on whether the mixed games include PL and NL games. Some mixes do, some don't. That said, some fixed limit games are pricier than others. Factor in the riskiest game into how much you sit down with.

Isn't it odd that PLO is far more risky than NL anything? What is it about PLO that makes people bet so hard when they may not even have a hand yet?

I prefer a very conservative BRM plan anyway. I try to be satisfied with modest gains and am happiest with modest losses. BRM is for grinding... and that's a good thing.

Its not that. Its that the best hand doesn't stay best as often as it does in NLHE.
