I have recently turned 18 and want to start building a bankroll as i dont have the money to fund one from the off. I play cash games on pokerstars. i have started with £50 which i think is about $73. I would appreciate any bankroll tips and i will keep you updated on how i do. At the minute i am playing 0.01/0.02 blinds and buying in for $2 (100x bb). i am going to play this level until i get to $100 (i am on $94 now) then i will move up to 0.02/0.05 blinds and buy in for $5. this will give me 20 buy ins. is this correct for NL Holdem? i have about 3 years experience playing poker and i play 4 tables at a time. Any pointers would be appreciated.
Scott :)

I think the reason most people end up losing their small bankrolls is they tilt. So, if you start to lose either go to smaller stakes or quit. Also, study study study. It's the only way you'll stay ahead of other poker players... Unless you just have an incredible knack for it.

if you are working on bankroll building i think one of the first mistakes people make is once they begin to win they jump to higher stakes.something that takes a day to win can be lost in minutes.been there and done that.im sure you will get some good tips from the more experienced players on this subject. gd luck on the building...

When I started out playing a poker pro told me to stick to the 20bi rule and I've never had any bankroll issues. Just remember to drop down even though it hurts when you have to.

yea my biggest mistake starting off is when I lost in small stakes I would go bigger to try to get it all back and I dug myself a hole. I learned over time. Hopefully you will learn from us before you do this.

look at full tilt bankroll manag. don't look at pokerstars version, they said 10% for everything, and I don't like that rule one bit.

Cash Games 5%, Single SNG 5%, MTT 2%

that how I role and it work for me, I only put a 30 dollar depost in full tilt and it now up to like $118.00

this is good advice. imo one of they most important parts of a BRM plan is the point at which you need to move back down. if your using a 20buyin rule then maybe when you get $100 and move up you might drop if you go below $80. then the next time move to 5nl with $120 drop at $90 etc. the point is after you fail its harter to move back up and gives you more conifence you can beat the lower level.
