In this hand, the player has 65c left on the river and I bet 64c...

Poker Stars - $0.02/$0.05 No Limit Hold'em (8 players)
Poker Stars Hand Converter Tool from CardsChat.com
SB: $6.86
BB: $2.07
UTG: $5.60
MP: $5
MP+1: $5
MP+2 Hero: $5.19
CO: $1.83
BTN: $3.86
tarkwinius - Sitting Out
Pre-flop: ($0.07) Hero is MP+2 and dealt :ks4: :4s4:
3 folds, Hero calls $0.05, CO folds, BTN calls $0.05, SB folds, BB checks
Flop: ($0.17) :js4: :qs4: :5s4: (3 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $0.12, BTN folds, BB calls $0.12
Turn: ($0.41) :js4: :qs4: :5s4: :ah4: (2 players)
BB bets $0.30, Hero raises $1.25, BB calls $0.95
River: ($2.91) :js4: :qs4: :5s4: :ah4: :3d4: (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $0.64, BB calls $0.64

Anybody else do this? I am playing a hand I know I am going to win (pretty certain) and I have my opponent committed. I will bet enough to put him almost all in but leave him with a cent. Is this just a mean thing to do? It's kind of like Ceasar destroying an army of 20,000 then leaving 800.

We shouldn't be thinking in terms of "mean" or "nice" when it comes to betting. We should be thinking about profit.

That being said, when bet sizing a probable winner, we could ask, "What size bet would our opponent have trouble folding to here?" If we want to mess with their heads, offer them difficult decisions.

That's kinda mean...

Like PattyR and midget said, doesn't make sense in this situation at all. I do make bets like that, when my hand isn't as solid as yours was. A lot of times when I want my opponent to think before they call, instead of just punching that magical all in button.

I do it to mess with a lot of people too. Especially in HU play. I also will bet amounts leaving myself with one chip, just so people don't see all in. It forces them to think a bit. IMO.

Pretty ballsy of anyone to even admit doing this, let alone showing the HH.

No problems. Don't know why he didn't shove or u just bet the 65c to get max profit. Usually they will shove the rest of their stack there when they can't even post 1 bb with it.

No, in no way possible is this an etiquette violation. It's your money, you can bet how much ever you want to.

+1. Just get him in for as much as he's got. Also, why did you open limp?

Not sure why I choose to open limp here, not a usual play for me. Sure was happy when 3 spades hit the flop (less then 1%).

To bolda3's comment, this is the funny part, I can't understand why anybody just calls in this situation but for some reason it happens often enough lol. I would always fire in the last cent in the other guys situation.

Is this right?
Can somebody complete the following please.
When we have 2 hearts the likelihood of flopping a flush is (X%) X% please.

Maybe it makes villain more likely to call because he thinks something is up and we actually make money?

Not likely, but possible.

It depends on the your read on teh other player! You have to bet the requiered value for him to call, if you bet more and he folds, its your regret

Think I read somewhere, 0.84%, so not quite 1 percent to flop the flush. 2 suited cards will make a flush about 6% by the river. Assuming calculations made preflop.

LizaBuv has it right, the percentage of flopping a flush when you hold two suited cards is 0.84%, or 118:1.

Why I do it

i would rather lose my whole buy in that have a penny left. lol

I guess this is why I do it, kind of insult to injury lol. Maybe not a nice thing to be doing, maybe I should not do this.

Leaving your 'victim' one chip may be a mistake considering the 'chip and a chair' philosophy. ... :p

Karma can be really brutal sometimes. ;)
