bad beat tables

ive played on bad beat tables at carbon for close to 2 years now with no luck. 50 cents is taken away from every pot that sees a flop...this is starting to add up for me. i dont know an exact amount, but i figure from all the pots ive taken down...ive lost close to $1,000 from all those 50 deductions.

has anybody here ever won a piece of jackpot on bad beat table? ive come so close twice...my quad aces vs. trip queens most recently. im starting to think its time for me to stop playing these tables. any opinions?

Think of these tables being full of a bunch of idiots trying to dish out bad beats. In theory I think these tables could possibly be more profitable. However, it's just a theory, I don't play at any sites that offer BBJP.

had nothing to do with the hand but once on UB igot aliitle over 100 bucks just for being at one bad beat tables playing at the same stakes when the pot was hit-thought that was pretty cool. never played them at carbon though so i don't know if they do that!!

They are only a bit of fun in my opinion.
I used to 6 table on Ladbrokes Poker. 5 standard and then one Bad Beat table thrown in. A friend of mine was dealt in when a jackpot was won last year - He got either 5% or 10% of a $20,000 prizepool.
Like you say though, its just not profitable to play these as you're main game 'coz of the stupid rake.
Plus, while we all moan about 'bad beats', how often do any of us lose quads over quads? Or Aces full to quads?
Think I've had quads beat once this year, and I've seen straight flush lose to royal flush (but both players only used one of their hole cards, so it wouldn't count for the bad beat jackpot).
Winning this is just going to be like a slot machine...one player is going to be in the right place at the right time.
Course, you have to be in it to win it. Keep having a pop by all means, but I'd calm them down a bit and mix up with standard tables (unless you have a rakeback deal!)

Another thing about playing at jackpot tables is that it encourages bad play if you're not careful. For instance, I've seen people play 2H3H in a big way from the small blind just because that's 2 cards to a wheel flush. Sounds crazy, but it's true. Same goes for a lot of other hands a decent player would automatically toss.

The flip side, of course, is that you can really take advantage of this tendency after you spot it and make some easy cash. If you happen to hit the JP, what a nice bonus.
