The Australian poker players are a joke.

They lost a battle they can win easily.

Australian government banned online poker.
Those people wrote to the government to show how much they love poker.
Online poker is NOT illegal in Australia.
But there is no way for poker stars to apply for a license there.
The Australia players just need to ask the government to set a law for issuing a license for online poker rooms.

We did. We have a Senator on board who managed to get an inquiry into online poker before the laws were changed. It was still voted out. It's not so simple. Governments don't just change laws because we ask them to.

I do not understand why they forbid poker. People themselves must decide whether to play them or not.

Well it is complicated discussion. Most governments do not like online gambling as it allows easily money to get out of the country towards companies registered elsewhere. Banning it altogether though is not correct solution. It is easiest but definitely not correct. It is enough to request online gambling companies to register locally and pay taxes there. This is what happened in my country few years ago. pokerstars and bet365 registered through local companies and are working without any problem. Other sites are filtered by internet providers due to this regulation so you can not play on them anyway.

It is sad. I was shocked when playing poker was banned by the Americans. So many words about freedom and the ban on playing the most American game. It seems that freedom remains just a slogan for elections. Reality - you just specify what you can do.
