ARCHIE KARAS. the greatest gambler of all time?

I had never heard of this guy but he is crazy. For those of you that are like me and never heard of him you need to watch this video of one of the greatest poker players and gamblers of all time.

just amazes me how money is no option for him, and how many doesn't bring him happiness. Also just how good of a gambler he was to take down the best of the best you know the stu's the doyles. He took care of his mother and gave her a good life. But for himself he says many times many doesn't make me happy and over the years I have also found this true. Money comes and goes somedays you are dead broke and out of nowhere you got a couple grand. But for karas it was a few million in a short time period

What number was going to make him quit and take a vacation?? He probably enjoyed losing it almost as much as winning it.

Yep, he's a legendary degenerate. These days I'm pretty sure he's busto (maybe not Eskimo busto, but still busto) and just getting staked to play in the odd tournament. Bit of a sad story in a way, but he actually seems to be OK with it all.

Personally, I don't think you can call him "The Greatest Gambler of ALL Times". The biggest action junky seems closer to the truth. In my mind a great gambler plays well, wins, gets rich and stays that way. If he starts to lose, he drops stakes. A great gambler would never lose it all back. That's what makes him great.

this is so sad. To lose 40 million seems insane.. That is ALOT of money. He would never have to move a finger for the rest of his life and childrens lives and grandchildrens live but decided to blow it all away. Sad.

Doesn't work that way, buddy. His risk-taking personality is what got him to $40 million in the first place. You may stop if you earn $1 million but you won't get $1 million in the first place. But it would be good to have $1 million.
