When learning a new game, play with play money for at least 20 hours. If you can find a play money tourney in the new game, play that, too. Do not play for real money unless you can either win a play money tourney or amass a large number of play chips.
It takes awhile to read Omaha
hands correctly. And even people who have played it a fair amount sometimes read their hands wrong. I played a Omaha H/L tourney in a casino once and every showdown was a matter of never mucking -- everyone still in the hand laid out their cards and the dealer and everyone sorted through to decide the winner(s). It eventually gets easier. But do not play for real money until you get at least the basics.
There are also Omaha sessions in the
full tilt poker Academy -- and well worth watching, once you have the basics concepts down.
