Ahh.. where do I begin...
Well, I didn't watch poker on ESPN or get influenced by any rich pro poker player like durrr or Phil Ivey. It started few months ago, I was a good kid never seriously gambled in my life except few cash games in snooker rooms. I hated gambling to be honest.
One night I was introduced to this video game called governor of poker, once i started playing it, I was like hooked to it. Whenever I had time I would just sit down for hours and finally managed to beat the game. After that I was convinced that I was good enough to try some hand in online poker.

Once I opened my first account in poker stars, it seriously blew my mind with all the cash games, tournaments and everything. Thought I could double my cash easily, but I didn't know it was very fierce competitive world. I instantly deposited $10 and started playing sit and go games. I would win 1 out of 5/6 games, my target was to reach $100 on my bankroll. But I was depositing more and more to reach my goal. And then I realized I had deposited more than $1000 within a few weeks on pokerstars. After that pokerstars suspended my account forever saying my account is "High Risk" for them but didn't give me any reason for the suspension. I wrote them several times, their reply was same, it was final decision. But now I don't blame them, may be their decision stopped me from further wasting my money.

But I was not satisfied, after loosing that much, I wanted it all back, whether it may take me 6 months / 1 year or more. So I opened my account in 888, I tried fulltilt first but it is seized by government or something, so I decided to stick with 888. This time I was more serious, I downloaded and read many poker books to enhance my game, I learned about many pro poker players, spent hours watching hi-level games on youtube and live games of pro players. I made my first $10 deposit on 888, started playing cash games 0.5/0.10, within 3 days my bankroll was $30. But I was also playing tournaments with $1-$3 buyins, I know it needs real luck to win tournaments, but I wanted my money back as quickly as possible. So i think I have wasted my bankrolls on thoese games. After playing like 8/15 tournaments, I did went up to top 50, 3 times and once reached on final table. Again I was back to cash games 0.5/0.10.. and again I am depositing more often. Several times I sat down hours with $10 for better hand, I try to play very few hands, but it's my luck or whatever.. I get thrash cards.

I fail to build my bankroll everytime. I am not addicted to these games, I know I have enhanced my game, I can honestly say I am better than many other players out there. I am not addicted to game now, I have better things for entertainment. I just shut it off whenever I tilt. And I Sometimes think of quitting, but I not a quitter. No I never gambled my grocery money or borrowed friends money to gamble. No I dont have dreams of becoming top players, I just want my cash back and then I can think of conclusion after that. But I am just worried on a long run.. I might just go broke someday if it continues.

You must say to your self that the money that you already loose is not your money anymore. Stop trying to return that money!!!
Instead of that try to learn more about the game...
Good luck:)

Hello Everyone,

I have been playing 6 Max Cash NL Ring Games for just over a month but spent a great deal of time studying. (reading books, watching Video's and practicing Theory/Strategy against Artificial Intelligence Bots)

I also make sure to focus on advice for the Stakes Level I am playing.

Get a HUD like Poker Tracker or Holdem Mgr. I also have NoteCaddy and LeakBuster.

Before you start a new Session you should review your hands from the previous Session. LeakBuster not only points out all of your leaks and grades you but gives you point by point Instruction via advice, hand replay and graphs as to what you are doing incorrectly.

LeakBuster also helps me with Tilt on tough days. Variance can be a bitch (I am a female saying that, lol) but if "LeakBuster" shows that I still played A- or whatever it helps me not tilt. I still have leaks of course but if I am steadily improving and playing to the best of my growing knowledge then I don't feel so bad.

I am in a modest Profit at the moment.

But if this helps here is what I do.

I have installed , Holdem Mgr. HUD, NoteCaddy, LeakBuster

In the Morning I review all of the previous days Sessions and go through all of my "LeakBuster" advice video's. I also will watch Videos that deal specifically with what area I am trying to improve (there are many of them)

Due to living in the US my Poker Room choices are limited but I have 2.
Bovada
America's CardRoom

For Bovada I have a HUD that is called the "Bovada Card Catcher" and also the "Bovada Hand Converter" which converts my hands in Poker Stars format for easy import to HM(Holdem Mgr., works with Poker Tracker too)

I also will practice with my "Ace Poker Coach" which let's me format all kind of Villain styles at the table to play against. Many times I like to do a "Poker Warm Up" against Bots before I hit the Live Tables.

I usually play a two hour Session on BloWvada and then 2 Hours on ACR.

I am playing 5-6 days a Week.

You need to study, practice, and play a lot of hands. You need to learn how to play the Table and figure out which concepts/strategy that you are learning apply to the situation. Are you in position? Are you out of position? Are you playing against an Aggro Fish? Passive Whale? RegTard? or Solid Player? Check Raise? 3-Bet? etc. There is also the Math and Probability factor! Bet sizing! Pot odds! Hand Odds! What color underwear do you have on ? (just joking) and that is just the tip of the Iceberg because the list of strategic implications/considerations are huge.

Oh, learning to read a HUD and set it up for perhaps the Stake Specific info that you need.

Look, I am no expert. Just aspiring to be the best that I can be and have a LONG way to go but I hope that this Post may help other's in their quest at the tables.

My goal is to get a Poker Coach in the Future when I have enough hands under my belt.

GL at the Tables,

Gypsy

PS-I am playing the Micro's, 5NL(6-Max Cash) which is a missing Ring of Dante's Inferno and building my Bankroll. I am focusing on just playing one table at a time right now and trying to apply what I am learning. I would rather sit longer at one table playing than multi-tabling. Once I feel more solid in my applications of what I am learning then I will increase tables.

I am by no means implying "my way or the highway" but perhaps elements of how I am approaching my studies will help others.

Some perspective, please

Is it possible to go bonkers and loose a lot of money? Of course it is. However, must of us are not talking about a great deal of money. For example, an avid golfer can easily spend more on green fees in a month than on poker in a year - and this doesn't include the amount lost on betting games that no one really understands.

Sweating over a $30 investment drains the enjoyment from the game. Don't let that happen to you.

Cheers!

You're in the 1% of poker forum members who have admitted to losing. The other 99% I'm assuming are pro.

I also added 40$ on Pokerstars and unfortunately lost,i played the big 2.20 and 5.50 .Then i realized that i better play HU 1.5/3.5 or cash games 0.01/0.02.Its all about perspective,if u are scared to put money in the pot you will never win money.Try when you enter in a hand,to win it,CBET,don`t call with shits like 9t off or something like that.Just play a hand that youare sure you win. So,when you fold, you can study your opponents style of playing poker. That works for me.I don`t play to reach final table,I play to win the hands that i join :)

Any poker player that tells you they have never lost money is bluffing.I have lost it myself. The money I have lost though I deposited it with an attitude and limit ( If I lose,I lose, if I win it's a bonus). Most of all you got to learn how to manage your bankroll once you do make a profit. You can't play a great game of poker trying to chase your money back.I have done that before and it will only cost you to lose more.Maybe post some of your hands on cardschat and have a few of the members analyze your hands how you played them. Maybe you can find the leaks in your game.Good luck.

Well, I gotta say that I never tried to return the money I've invested, as my cousin says, Never try to reach for the money you lost, you lost it and you'll never get it back..

That helped me to never put more money than I wanted to put. If I recall right, I lost about 40 dollars since I firstly register to PokerStars.

Today, I'm studying more poker, watching some videos, trying to discover my tilts. Always playing freerolls and building my bankroll out of it.

It's not fast, and certainly not easy to play all those 2k players freerolls with a prize of 3 dollars for the winner. But, it is allowing me to have FUN with poker, and not letting poker have fun on me as you did!

Nice to know that PS would safely block your account to avoid you loosing even more money hehe..

You should try that, have fun with it, playing for real money but wasting none of it.
