Stick to the well known sites. Paradise, partypoker, and Full tilt are some of the better. Do a search on Google, there are sites out there that rates the pros and cons of each site? Most look at at least ten different sites.

want to be afraid, check out this site i found.

Gave me a new outlook at playing for real money online.
It only cost $60 to make it easy to play on tell who is bluffing and has you beat.
I think I have faced this once in a sit and go at party poker. Either faced a pro or this guy had a golden horse shoe you know where. He made every right decision on bluffs/calls/reraises etc.

Very few sites use bots or shills, the number is probably less than 5. The thing I think players should worry about are PLAYERS using auto programs to play poker. If somebody can write a program to capture what cards the game is dealing then they are just a step or 2 away from having a program to play the games for them! Here is a good article on the subject.http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6002298/
Personally since Limit is all about numbers, would be much easier to write a program to play Limit but I would think NL would be extremely difficult.

Hi - Don't know about bots, but I was playing with someone who had one of these software programs that detected players cards. He asked me "you called with an A/8 - wondering how I know?" -- I mucked so he should not have seen what I had so I knew he had some software. He did this to several other players and was a big pain in the:reddy: - luckily we took all his chips and left eventually. I guess the software didn't work very well for him. LOL

Not sure really :)

Hi all,
I've heard a lot about it but not seen evidence of it, i've heard that some poker rooms employ professionals to play at the tables but that's not illegal, i've also heard rumours that certain poker rooms use bots and seen some players being accused of being a bot because they've won every hand.
I don't really believe poker rooms use bots, especially not the well known ones, I even believe it wouldn't be logical for a poker room to use such a thing ( if it existed ) they would have to much to lose, if a poker room was proved to be cheating in any way they wouldn't last and they make too much money to risk that.
On the other hand it's quite possible that other players use some kind of cheat software although I have no idea how efficient that could be. Cheat software and/or bots are used in many online programs which make cheaters large amounts of money, usually in paid to programs and search engines but they can't do it for long as they get detected very quickly and lose their accounts.
At the end of the day I don't worry or think about it too much, for every honest person there will always be one trying to cheat the system but more often than not cheaters are not very good at what they do.
I would actually like the opportunity to play against a bot/computer or even a professional just to see how i'd fare.
I think if I suspected someone was using software which could read my cards then i'd only play the hands when he folded or leave the table and find somewhere else.
Good luck all :)

I keep seeing enquires from observers at play tables asking about buying play chips for cash. Usually gets very negative responses from other players. Anyone know what this is about?

Yeah youngins who can't get a way to put some of their real money down try to sell their play chips. You can do it through ebay if you want. I sold my buddy over a million of those play chips at pokerstars for 5 bucks just because he didn't have the patience to build it up himself and he NEEDED the paractice before he lost anymore real money

Well looks ya'll need to change the payout structure so we can play this thing! 2 table shorthanded SNG top 4 get paid change it up!

Making a bot is just stupid a bot will play with no emotion That is great but a bot can never ever understand you when bluff or just make a silly all in .If someone comes up with a bot that actually thinks he deserves to get everybody`s money

Are they doing this?

one of my saddest experience while playin tournament in the middle stage was when i flopped four of a kind, and lost on the river to a higher 4 of a kind!...that really sucked! now my question is "is it possible for the designer of the program that runs the game to put someone he knows like a very close friend or a very close relative and control his hand and make him win 90% of the time even on bad hands, and then split the winnings 60/40 (on big tournaments, this is big money)? can the designer control the game remotely? you got to remember he designed and developed the software..so what you guys think?

With regards the seeing which cards someone else had, on some sites, if a hand goes to showdown, then even if they're mucked then it'll show in the hand history, and programs can see those cards after the hand has finished.
Therefore one some sites its easy for a person to find out that you had A8, whether using software or just looking in the history for themselves. That you were able to take all his chips just shows that he didn't know all that he made out he knew - he was just trying to freak you out and make you play worse (I'd guess he was an aggressive player who would want his bluffs to be feared).
