Anyone ever heard of anything like this before?

heres a copy of my conversation with a friend who plays professionally poker is his sole source of income. I have never heard anything like what he alleges pokerstars did but it doesn't seem implausible just wondering what you guys think about this.

btw my password is not my password I just had some silly student change my msn thingy one time and now its set to that as default.

Yep it's standard, had that happen to me. I emailed them about it and they said many things in their security will trigger that. It's a security measure to insure fair play is what they told me.

So if you were doubting your buddy, he was telling you the truth.

Its an automated bot checker. I've had it happen to me just the once.

It comes up in the chat box, same message on all the tables that you are playing, you cannot ignore it, and you have loads of time to enter the code.

It never actually happen to me but my question is if you have turned chat off, how they will get you the message to type something in the chat box??
Or they can send a msg to you and just to you even if you have chat box turned off??

it probably still gets through to u even if u have chat turned off, only option that makes sense.

happened to me last fall at stars ...they said it was security measure...which is ok by me...They asked me to chat as well

seems to be common. ive also had this happen. was sittin out in a freeroll for whatever reason and was dealt Ks so i jumped back in to play them and had this pop up. was worried i wasnt gonna get it in time but i did and got to play the hand. probs lost it tho, freerolls.

It just Gobsmacks me because I have been a winning player for over a year and a half and have constantly multi tabled regularly showing a good profit and I have never once had this.

Have they said anywhere that winning is a requirement to these bot checks?

I know nothing about bots, but I'm guessing they'd be more concerned with mechanical like plays. Consistency of speed of decisions, bet sizes being exact percentages etc

Interesting story. I guess as long as they give you enough time to answer all the chats it would be ok. My worry would be tryig to play a good hand while answering or having to give up a good hand to to tak the time to answer.

It was just the standard automatic bot check. You type in the code and you can continue playing.

Even if you don't type it in you can continue playing, they just try it again and take a much closer look at your playing records.

Not a big deal, and it's nothing personal.

I think some are done at random, but most are sent to multi-tablers who trigger something. Like, if someone played for 24 hours straight, or 7 days a week at the exact same times, or some other repetitive/fbot-like behavior.

Wow! Wish I played well enough to be questioned. It is nice to know an effort is being made to keep the game fair.

LOL, good one.

I don't think i'll ever have to worry about any bot check because I always play on micro. I think its ok for poker sites to do bot checks from time to time because of security measures.

The poker sites must have some type of monitor programs because i saw one guy at a table who started swearing a lot and all of a sudden this message poped up on the chat screen and said to whatever the guys name was that he had just received a warning and everybody else could see it too. Not sure but it might have been a real person watching??

I wish I was good enough for them to think I'm a poker machine. Alas, this is not truth.

Happened to me once. No memory of how I was playing at the time.

They do have filters that alert chat admins to certain chat behavior, but other players can report offenders as well.
