anyone else notice this

so started playing life recently after been an online player for some time noticed right away that things were very different. things that would work online would not work there and things that wouldn't work online would work there. I also noticed the standard was really really bad.

i expected the same game i find online i found it totally different. Do you guys find life poker to be different to online poker and do you find life poker to be so much worse then online?

:boxing: Live poker is a differnt game...admittadely the odds and percentages will not vary but the play is definately different. Just adjust to what will work for you and be aware of your tendencies and tells. And for gods sake please put on more than just a pair of underwear when playing live...people tend to frown upon that.

The standard of play in live games is usually worse than online. Online, people can sit and wait for a big hand as the hands are played so quickly, whereas live play is much slower so people will get impatient and play some less than desirable cards. Just be patient wait for good cards, play simple poker and dont do anything fancy as it will not work very often.

yes the limp call raise with k7 off suit under the gun was pretty impressive it was £25 buy in as well which (currencies vary but rough figure) is $40.

i was amazed to say the least i final tabled and won a bit but not much.

I think live poker is much better then online poker there are still donkeys but not as many and they usually go broke quick

In live poker, people do not fold, so don't bluff and value bet everything

Low limit live: Players play more hands than low limit online.
High limit live: Players play less hands than online high limit.
Other than that it is about the same except that you can pick up tells in live play.:boxing:

I lIke the point that coot makes also about picking up tells in live play which makes a big difference....

yeah, live is better because of the interesting people you get to be around. Watching the way they play there cards and expressions. Online is a lonely game compare to live. Online takes a little less patients because of the quicker blind levels. While live you get way more time before blinds next level.

I love playing Life. But I always lose when I don't go to college or have too many kids.

Would love to try it live. Just no opportunity here locally to try it live.

Don't worry about Bots. Bots suck. bots = easy money. Besides, they have such little impact on the game that their mere presence is of little to no consequence.

Live play at a casino not a home game is much slower than online but cards are just cards and hands are just hands. The tells part is tough to learn and most online players have many bad habits and are easy fish when they first play live.

The easiest tell I've seen to spot a bad/new player is they are eager to see their cards when they are dealt to them and do not pay attention to the action at hand.

I've only played live a half dozen or so times and the biggest difference I noticed was my play got irratic possibly due to nerves and the environment. Things I would have done on line I didnt do live. I am not quite sure how to change this other than more live play to adjust.

I play like fish on live poker, don't know why sometimes i don't put $$$ into game when i would do that online, classic live event blockade

Yes I agree, playing online poker is totaly differnt story. Online you can earn fastern and you dont have to show up. So I like more playing online because I can arrange my space around me as I liked. So, coffee, red bull, favorite music and privacy... And hope money too!

i find it tough

you have to be concerned about the ediquette, you are probably not in a comfort zone unless you've had a few ... and having a few can produce mixed results

there are distractions ... hot chicks, booze, noise, hot chicks (oh had that already)

while the play is overall of lesser quality ... if you are playing cash, then it is tough when you realize a few people at the table simply have more money in life than you do ... yes, that may mean they are more likely to part with it, but when somebody comes over the top of you like his chips are play money ... it's pretty tough to stay cool

tourney is a little better, because you've already spent the money, now you are just simply trying to play the best poker you know to get it back ... as somebody else suggested ... play like Dan Harrington ... it's harder to make plays live unless you play live regularly ... not saying never do it ... the old play the player, but be careful ... you might even give tells while making plays

I've heard others mention before that playing live is a lot like playing turbo online. The reason is that you see far fewer hands per blind level than in regular online play. I blinded out of a lot of live games before realizing that. So I think that's one of the reasons. You've got far fewer hands to earn those chips!

(That's for tourneys. For ring games, as others have mentioned, booze, women, and boredom factor in!)

Until they change up legislation and the online game gets easy again I'll stick to live play. Yes I do not see as many hands or play as many tournaments, but with good game selection (which is easy live because I know my local player pool very well and there isn't much talent) I have been making more.

Learn the live game and go rape those idiots.

Yes.. that ^ is for your typical low buyin Casino Tourney ($40-$100)... where it might seem like you have a decent starting stack but before you know it the avg. stack on the table is like 10bb's.

Not sure why some on here seem to think that live play is tougher or that decent online players will have a tough time with the transition to live (the only thing tough about it is grasping your head around just how bad so many of them play imo).
Live donkaments I play at (which actually have an ok structure & are all-day affairs ~100-130entrants) have a TON of terrible players in them. I'm talking about guys limping in with AQ, AK on shortstacks or when blinds are high.. others (lots of them) who absolutely will NOT FOld with any suited face card (Q4s is good for a utg limp then call a big 4bet for 1/3 of their stack). Some other funny stuff too -> players visually counting to '5' to see if they actually have a straight (while eyeing up the board).
There's some good players too but they're usually pretty easy to spot (& most of them also play online)

Ah, so that explains it. So if $100 falls in the "low" buyin range, what is the "normal" range considered to be?
